Funny, I bought that same table probably about 10 years ago or so as a dining table, but switched to being a craft table and still love it. It's taken a beating and keeps going.

Thank you. This was an informative, easy to follow video. Right now I use a farmhouse table. It’s sturdy, but way too big. By the time I walk around it when using it for cutting patterns or preparing yardage for blankets I’m worn out and need a nap.

I see it today on Ikea France because I live in France and price is not the same. It cost 279 euros. I think it's expensive. So I don't bought it. I buy instead the same style but smaller. I don't know if I will regret my purchase... I will see.

I’ve had the earlier version of this table (two drawers instead of six), in a white and pine version (white top, pine legs) in my sewing studio for more than 20 years. It is still going strong and the white surface is still in good condition.

Your right, I see it's perfect for sewing! In my little opinion, it's a good price even at inflation ( $350 ) compared to marketed sewing furniture🙋🏼 thanks for sharing

Wow I just looked up this item in IKEA UK and it’s over £300 for the white and £400+ for the Birch version. I was hoping it would be just over £200 😟🥺 UPDATE: oh that was with 4 chairs in a set! Phew. White & Birch are both £249

Thank you for advice, I am considering this table but I would say alot of Ikea that isn't wood wood but plastic plates and not even hdp but like cardboard? They really suck. I remember my sister's guy putting his cup down on the table and the cup shattering the top of it and going into the cardboard but it was like the big version of the tables that cost 7$ 😂

IKEA is not fine furniture, but I agree that it's very good value, and it's durable. I have no issues with the storage units in my workroom: they're doing the job beautifully and I got a lot of attractive storage for the money.

The Norden table is too small for me to hack as I have a 5' x 8' cutting mat, but this gives me great ideas for making one. I had not thought of gate legs for the leaves, and the centre block with storage drawers are just what I need. Thumb up!

I first bought the pine to use as a dining table, now it's the perfect sewing table! I painted and labeled the drawer fronts and I stack my supplies in the drawers in stackable wooden bins from the dollar store.

I love this! My sis & brother in law built an entire kitchen from Ikea. My brother in law can charm the birds out of trees. My sis is a monster from hell. She's nicer to him. The only time they got in major fights was putting together that Ikea Kitchen! I should mention that they're both handy.😂

I love Ikea furniture too and have many pieces of them around the hause :) however this love changes once in a while into dislike.... especially when they discontinue collections or "make them better" like the Expedit... By these 2 cm they messed up all the previous hacks like cutting tables made from 2-4 units for people who see these 2 cm off in the hack..... The Norden table almost perfact as cutting table except ,it's to low.... I love your 'island" :)

We just bought the nordan gateleg table along with two Alex cabinets and 63 inch desk top for my sewing room. Took us two days to put everything together. I love the table because it is so versatile and love my new desk with Alex cabinets. Was skeptical about IKEA but you are right the quality is good. Also bought two peg boards with accessories. Love my sewing room now 😊.

Yes this is an easy job to assemble. You are an expert on sewing so become an expert in DIY jobs too. Not as hard as sewing.
Go hang up that screwdriver please! Get the Dewalt 885 or 887 model 20V Impact Driver and Drill set and use small 2 amp batteries which are lighter in weight. Comes with the charger as a bundle. Try to get the models I listed not just any bundle.
The Impact Driver is a fancy name for a screwdriver that is powered. Get a driver bit set (screwdriver bits) and a drill bit set to drill holes. You will need both in life. Buy Dewalt as they are well designed and easy too use.

You can get a set of hex driver bits or try some of the star bits in the IKEA screw holes. Everything in IKEA is assembled with hex type screws. Assembly is a breeze if you have a power driver instead of a manual screwdriver. That is dinosaur mode. You should not only be able to assemble this table in 30 mins but build it in a couple of days. It is not hard. Believe me, sewing is much harder but we women all think DIY is hard because men do it. I can sew, knit, and do any DIY task myself. I'm female and not young.

I think IKEA is great for modern living solutions. Nothing you buy at ikea will become treasured heirloom pieces, but they do the job. And when you’re done with it you don’t have to feel sorry to get rid of it and get what you need next.

As of 8/12/24 this piece is $349!!! However, I agree about the quality of IKEA furniture. I have a sectional and an oversized chair and ottoman and love them. Thanks for the info. This is definitely going on my wish list!

I use a adjustable Husky Workbench from home depot, but have to share space for my computer if I am working from home. I hate having to take things down and put them up over and over again. Can I ask how tall you are. I am on the taller side and find a lot of Ikea stuff short and I don't want to be hunched over. I love the idea of the convertible space and storage but am torn by the usually limiting height of ikea furniture. I also would use it to cut as well. I don't have room for another piece as just a workbench.

I'm watching this in November 2024. The table was selling for $199 when the video was made (3 years) ago. Now it sells for $349. It's almost twice the price in that short time. 😞
