Talakaveri and Bhagamandala Temple, Coorg | Brahmagiri hill | Birth place of River Kaveri

Talakaveri is the place that is generally considered to be the source of the river Kaveri and a holy place for many Hindus. It is located on Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala in Kodagu district, Karnataka State. It is located close to the border with Kasaragod district.

Talakaveri stands at a height of 1,276 meters above sea level. However, there is not a permanent visible flow from this place to the main rivercourse except during the Monsoon.

There is a small spring called as a tirtha kundike or Brahma kundike. It is believed that the river originates from this spring.

Sri Bhagandeshwara temple is located around 35.4 km away from Madikeri and can be reached by road. It takes around 50 minutes to 1 hour to reach the temple from Madikeri town.
One of the most popular hill stations in the country, Coorg is not all about nature but also of equally popular religious sites as well. This breathtakingly beautiful hill station in the western ghats of Karnataka state, boasts of being a popular destination among devotees as well. Sri Bhagandeshwara temple is one such shrine which attracts hordes of devotees to Coorg.

This temple is located quite close to the Triveni Sangama which is the meeting point of three holy rivers namely River Cauvery, River Kanika and River Sujyoti.
