A bowl of fresh washed strawberries with nothing on them IS a super food. ANYTHING from a box is overprocessed junkfood no matter what it says on the front of the box. How do people not know this already?

If it's altered from how it grew, then it's not likely to be a superfood.

I've never seen anything called a "superfood" that had a nutrition label. Berries, avocado, kale, etc are the only things I've ever heard references as superfoods and they don't usually come in a box with a label.

I’ve personally seen products advertise “no high fructose corn syrup” then proceed to have corn syrup lol. As someone allergic to corn I read the ingredients and I never trust them saying no corn syrup on the front because I’ve found times where it was still in it.

I have made it a habit since teenage years to always look at the labels. I remember a drink being marketed on the shelves as organic orange juice, no artificial sweeteners. I check the label and there is some real oranges in there...but there was also artificial orange flavoring and sugar. I guess technically, they got away with "no artificial sweeteners" since the artificial flavoring isn't a sweetener and sugar is a natural sweetener.

GMO corn has become like an invasive species. It’s the corn that surpasses all other corn. Farmers will only want to grow GMO corn. Other corns will become less and less appealing. The diversity of flavors, sizes, and textures will fall to the side as brawn and bulk take centerstage. GMO corn represents an unfair evolutionary advantage where the only that matters is if you’re easy to grow.

What kind of corn did the pilgrims grow? What about the indigenous?

WHO CARES

Let’s feed the starving people etc over there and let’s say goodbye to our history

I know, let’s not use hydroponic growing

Let’s just reduce it all to one kind of corn
Huge
Bulk
Brawny

And the flavor crystals spread out wider so it doesn’t taste as strong

My first real "aha" moment for this was with Tostitos.

My parents started getting the whole wheat ones as opposed to the regular plain corn ones, thinking they were the "healthier" option.

At one point, I just randomly decided to look at the nutrition facts of each, and it was honestly crazy how they had it laid out. The actual numbers were almost identical - with the whole wheat ones actually having higher sodium (understandable because they would need more salt to taste better compared to the plain corn chips) - which made them seem like they were actually the exact same, if not a bit worse than the corn chip variants. But then I noticed that the serving size was different. The whole wheat chips used a smaller serving size (I forget the exact number, but it was to the tune of a few chips) to reach the same calories number as the corn chips.

So the chips with the very obvious "healthy" coded marketing were actually the less healthy option. And you wouldn't even notice unless you had both beside each other and looked at the nutrition facts, which a lot of people just don't do, they will just see the brown packaging, see "whole wheat", see the chips look brownish with grain flecks in them, and assume "ah yes, these are the healthier version of nachos", and accept it.

If you buy any products with corn, especially corn grown in the United States, you are consuming a Genetically Modified Organism, GMO. Corn has been cross bred and modified thousands of times to make it grow to maturity faster, it grows much larger, and some varieties have been modified to be bug resistant (thus negating the need to use pesticides in the field). You are eating more gmos than you know.

Arent superfoods meant to be completely natural, nutrient dense foods? Like liver, spinach, broccoli, blueberries, olive oil, pure cocoa etc? And I hope we arent arguing that these foods arent as healthy as the label "superfood" claims they are, because they are that healthy.
