You don’t tell someone you’re going great any more than you tell someone what you’re going to name your baby before it’s born. The second you tell someone that you’re going to call your little girl. _______. They will come up with 1 million stories about someone they knew with that name who was just an awful person and they did horrible things to them growing up and they were a bully and they were mean and and etc., etc……. Meanwhile, it’s probably the name that you and your husband decided on and have loved it for years or it’s your grandmother a great grandmother’s name so thanks a lot friend. No one is your friend when you’re going gray.

New sub. I have thick, coarse dark brunette hair. I am about four-months in now.

I do notice some of the whiter hairs stick up coming out of my scalp, on the top of my head.

I use the Fructis Frizz Tamer wand, and it works great. Just wanted to pass that tip along.

I went all natural in 2015/16. I liked it but got bored so started dyeing again. I’m 51 now and going to do it again. I’m early in and I’ve been doing the dye strip but that’s getting old already. I’m using the brown powder boldly product on the strip rather than dye…for events…and I’m happy with it. My least fav part is looking like I have hair loss because the white looks like my scalp. Cheers to my second grey transition. 🥂

It’s been over a year now I have 8 inches of growth my hair got really long the bottom is color n old bleach . I cut already 3 inches I couldn’t go short but this stage is making me want to color it again . I’m struggling with the few greys I have but I’m tired of coloring n also scared of allergies now since I haven’t colored in a year . My color is mostly brown n my pattern is coming in very thin and throughout mostly at the crown . Looks like tiny silvers . Now if I do decide to color . Should I use a Demi? Or no?

I am a long time stylist-clear glossing natural or gray or white hair is also a wonderful way of enhancing and shining whatever natural color you have! No ammonia or harsh permanent chemicals. It also helps control frizz and adds an extra layer of gloss that lasts up to 4-5 weeks. Some added body too 😉

I’ve gone gray twice and returned to color twice. Part of what works for me is my high contrast — dark hair and very light skin. I had lots of trouble figuring out what colors worked on me once I went gray. So I’m a brunette for the time being, but the time is coming . . .

I'm at the beginning of my journey and never ever considered going gray before until now. I have no idea why it feels like it's time but I feel that it is. My issue is the fear I have. I have a judgemental partner and I know he won't like it. I'm 43 with a 3 year old son. I want my partner to still be attracted to me. I know I shouldn't care what he thinks but I do.

Is there anyone in the comments who hates the way they look blonde or with light colored hair that has gone gray? I'm 42, been bleaching (2-3 times a yr only) and dyeing my hair since I was 14. I started finding gray hairs at 23 and have been adamant about never seeing my natural color. My natural hair is brown with reddish tones. I was blonde as a very young child but anytime I've bleached my hair and had to keep it blonde for a day or 2, I've hated it. I think it washes out my skin tone and makes me look ill. I have decided to stop bleaching my hair all together but I'm still going to be using vegan hair dye in my usual colors. I always have crazy colored hair, pink, purple, blue, red, I've had every color. Going gray and just being able to exist without dyeing it sounds amazing but like I said at the beginning, I hate the way I look with light hair. Just curious if anyone else felt this way and discovered that they actually like it now. Thanks for listening 🩷

I stopped box dyeing my very very dark brown hair about.. 6 months ago. I realized I was super drying my hair out and getting ugly flat color anyway. I also don’t want to spend the money on salon color because my hair grows fairly quickly and I would need root touch up every 6 weeks. Can’t afford that. So here we are- embracing the gray!! 😂 think I’m just going to go the cold turkey method but had a question- what do you suggest for calming down the crazy texture of the newer grays? I promise I haven’t plucked any out in months! 😂 but it’s so hard when one is just sticking straight out

I tried it several times. The last time, I had the hairdresser cut it really short so I was grey immediately. Had it that way for 2 months but couldn't get used to it. Probably because my face is naturally red. The dark brown I have my hair dyed in now makes my face less red. Still, I'm almost 60 now, my face looks young but my neck and cleavage do not. So it looks just off and I'm thinking of letting it go grey again. Still undecided.

For most of my life I thought my hair looked bad. I used box dye and would straighten them because they were frizzy and the more i did those things the worse they looked.
I thought I couldn't grow them long and so I always cut them in ways I never really enjoyed.
During lockdown I had the chance and time to learn about my own hair and I now have long, voluminous wavy hair that need low maintenance except for the dye.
I'd like to stop that but ive only just started enjoying my nearly natural hair and I don't think it's yet the time for me, but when I'll decide to go for it I want to come back to all of these videos and really do my research.

I made the mistake of telling my mom and my brother I was going to let my gray hair grow out. They both tried to talk me out of it. They told me how much older I was going to look and so on. I also told my daughter and my husband who were both for it. My daughter said that I should embrace my gray hair and my husband said I would be a silver fox. He still calls me his silver fox now that it is all grown out too. It was so hard growing it out because I had been coloring it my natural hair color which was dark brown. So while it was growing out I would use a hair color spray to go down the middle of my head to cover the gray. That was where it looked the worst. Once all my bangs were grown out it didn't look so bad anymore. Before I knew it I had a full head of silver/gray hair.

I started greying at 15, been dyeing my hair since 24, I am now 67. After going on a very low carb diet I suddenly lost over 50% of my hair & its still falling out 3 months later. I've been allergic to most hair dyes, have been using hairprint for about 7 years. My hair still grows 1 inch /month. I now have 3 inches of very white hair, about 2 inches of reddish brown & the rest dark brown. I've decided to just let it grow, more concerned with the hairloss than color. My friends, who don't have allergies, do not want me to go grey. I've never been one to follow the crowd so that doesnt matter. I enjoyed this video, thanks !

I am several months in to going gray, had some highlights added to help me through the transition. My sister is very negative about it, but I could care less. I’m turning 55 this year and I’ve exposed myself to enough chemicals in my lifetime, I’m done. She’s having a hard time because she is 4 years younger than me and treading the menopause waters. I just support her and give her love. It can be a tough transition…

Your hair looks fabulous! Gives me renewed excitement about my journey to a full natural head of healthy hair!

I’m 29 and started graying at 13. From 22-27 I grew my gray hair out from a short bob. When my husband passed away, I needed a change so I went blonde then black then red. I miss my gray natural hair. I was probably 76% gray the first time I grew it out and it was easy. I’m 95% gray now so it’s not as easy. I’m a few months into growing it back out and booooy does the red dye demarcation line look awful. I have 3 important events to attend between now and march and I’m already dreading this hair in those photos but also tired of dealing with dye
