Howling Woods Farm in Jackson, NJ focuses on wolfdogs. Wolfdogs, as their name suggests, are a cross between wolves and domestic dog breeds such as husky, German Shepherd, and malamute. As they are a cross between wolves and dogs, these animals exhibit characteristics of both species.
Howling Woods Farm does NOT breed wolfdogs or promote the breeding of the species. Wolfdogs are not as trainable as domestic dog breeds. They also require a lot of outdoor space. At Howling Woods, all of the enclosures had eight foot fences with a three foot dig guard at the bottom.
It is NOT legal to own wolfdogs in all the US states. Howling Woods does have a few dogs up for adoption, but the decision to adopt should not be taken lightly. The process to adopt is lengthy, as Howling Woods wants to ensure their dogs go to the best homes possible.
The volunteers were wonderful and knowledgeable. A $20 donation is the entrance fee and there is a small gift shop.
