Interesting you have mentioned on some of your posts changing basses when the strings lose their sound. Reminds me of a joke about the billionaire who got a new Rolls because the ashtrays in the Bentley were full 😅
Enjoyed the video thanks!
Troy, you have a video on how you learn songs, right?
ОтветитьTroy, thank you for posting all of these videos. I have watched a few of them and your playing the song has helped me work them out. I was looking into picking up a Guild B-301-A. I see you do play it on a number of your videos. Any advice or recommendation for that bass would be appreciated. All the best.
ОтветитьHey Troy, Happy Labor Day weekend! Hoping all is well with you. Wondering if you'd consider doing a Judas Priest tune. I realize Ian Hill is not exactly challenging but just like Ringo Starr, he's a perfect fit for the music. Maybe a classic like "Tyrant", "Sinner" or even "Hell Bent for Leather"?
ОтветитьHey Troy, enjoy your videos. What advice would you give to a total beginner at age 60 about learning to play to he bass? Thank you
ОтветитьPick the least appropriate bass for the song.😝Doesn’t happen all that often....Hmmm.....I wonder what the TJH3113 signature bass would look like and sound like, and who would be the builder? It would be a fascinating journey no doubt!
ОтветитьHere’s one to try: We Close Our Eyes by Go West
ОтветитьHi Troy! Rickenbacker on Earth, Wind, and Fire? 😆
ОтветитьNice playing!
Could you do a cover of „The very thing that makes you rich“ by Ry Cooder ?
Troy. You’ve had many challenges in life, but you appear to be enjoying life. I truly hope you are enjoying life. 😊
ОтветитьYou are without a doubt my favorite bass channel. I used your "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Stone in Love" videos to learn them for a gig. They went over great, and we ended up getting booked at that specific club once a month for the rest of the year! I am currently studying your "Burnin' for You" cover to learn it. I am definitely going to throw something in the "buy me a coffee" link. I feel like I owe you for all that help you didn't even realize you gave.
ОтветитьThanks for this, question answered! :)
Ответитьcan't see why us any other bass besides the Spector or the Aria ?
ОтветитьIt does not which one you choose because you play them ALL extremely well. I love all of your basses. :-0
ОтветитьInteresting and different than what I expected lol.
ОтветитьTroy's the man👌
ОтветитьI don't know if you mentionned that earlier but what strings do you use on your basses ? Thank you for this short clip.
ОтветитьNever knew this. Interesting!!
Ответить“I get asked a lot about what bass I am going to use”……as you are holding a super high end, expensive Fodera 😂😂. Wish we all had this problem! Haha
ОтветитьTroy, you are an awesome player! The choice and taste for the bass you use is impressive..... Nice Fidora.
ОтветитьThanks Troy. Over the years I've accumulated 10 great basses all excellent in their own right, and am always looking for 1 more (Spector NS Dimension?). It's funny. I'll pick up my P-Bass, and love it, then my 4 string Sadowsky Jazz, and go oh man, this thing sounds great, then my 60s Fender Jazz, and fall in love , again. So I agree, there are cases where a passive bass with flats works better in a song, and where an active bass with new bright round wounds work. I'd bet that Fodera, never sounds bad.
ОтветитьPlay Suicidal Tendencies, I'll Hate You Better?
ОтветитьSo..must basses can be adjusted to get the right sound, I think. Is it more the equipment than the bass?
ОтветитьAre you still working at the same place?
ОтветитьI remember I was very sad when I found your "Hotel California" video, because, on that song, Randy played a Rickenbacker, and I knew from pictures and footage that you had a Rickenbacker, but you played it on I think a Fender Jazz.
Of course, I probably wouldn't be so torn up about it now; I was a lot younger mentally then.
If I were doing it, I would just pick whichever one sounds best for that song; I imagine that would get pretty inefficient, though.
Tone comes from the hands a great deal. Many young musicians are incredibly put off after buying their idol's same instrument only to discover there is much more included in their tone.
ОтветитьBass strings don't go bad they get better and betterer
ОтветитьFantastic video I enjoy which bass you play
ОтветитьYou make all your basses sound great. I think my next bass is going to be a used PRS Kestral.
ОтветитьWhatever bass Troy is using, he's going to get the best out of it.
ОтветитьGreat topic!
ОтветитьI was wrong. My guess was that a blind folded dart throw would have been the decider! 🤣
ОтветитьYour basses all sound very interesting and cool in your covers man. Really talented content here indeed
ОтветитьVery cool, can I ask can you tell a song has drop tuning right away and how?
ОтветитьInteresting but I have to ask, you choose with no regard to color!? ; )
