When I was living in Hungary, it was nearly impossible to get peanut butter and the ones that I can get extremely expensive and not very good at all. Can you get peanut butter in Thailand?

Yeah I laugh to myself when I see all of these foreign tourists exchanging their home currencies in Thailand. I just use my Fidelity debit card at any ATM. No foreign transaction fees. I get the local ATM fee rebated to me. That's definitely the way to go to get local baht. If I need to transfer money from the United States to a Thai bank account, I just use the Wise app. Very simple to use and the fee is usually a little over 1%.

Yeah, I always bring Tums even for a short visit. They do usually have antacids at 7-Eleven, but they're not as good as Tums, in my opinion.

The clothing sizes definitely caught me off guard on my first couple of visits. I'm 5' 5" and 150 lbs. I've been a medium at most for the past thirty years. I get to Thailand and they're like "2XL for you, pûy."

I bank with USAA so basically the same deal as Schwab.

Snacks... I very occasionally crave something from home, but there's a whole universe of new stuff to explore at 7-Eleven (HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANT FTW) and on the street (10 to 15 baht for a skewer of meat basically everywhere), so I'm good. But yeah, Villa has everything from Oscar Mayer to Old El Paso. I do miss Kraft Deli Deluxe American Cheese, though (it's just better on a burger). The crappy singles I can find, but not the 'good' stuff so far. If anybody knows where to get some in Pattaya, let me know. :)

Oh, and while you may not find Dr Pepper in Thailand, pretty much all the other familiar soda brands are much better than in the US, even non-sugar stuff like Pepsi Max is somehow better in Thailand.

Completely agree with large size clothing XXL from CA, and definitely shoes, as I wear size 13…..can never find in Thailand 💯.
Bring sunscreen from US, much cheaper than buying there, electronics are cheaper in US.
Very difficult to find anti-perspirant deodorant in Thailand, I bring from US.
Fidelity or Schwab ATM card to avoid fees and is a must for expats living in Thailand.

They don't sell Tums in my country, so I can't compare, but for the most stomach-related issues, including heartburn, there's a fantastic "Flying Rabbit" herbal emulsion which you can buy in every drugstore or even 7 Eleven or Family Mart. Works like a charm. I love it so much that I'm bringing a few bottles back home from every Thailand trip. Worth trying ;)

If you had to come up with a large payment quickly (say $15,000 USD for a hospital bill), and you did not have a Thai bank account, would you use your credit card or is there a better way to make the payment? Thank you.

great info.. I always wondered about getting cash. FYI, anyone with heartburn or acid reflux, try apple cyder vinegar (1 tbl spoon mixed with a glass of water per day). Had acid reflux for 20 yrs, 2 yrs ago started taking the apple cyder vinegar & not one occurrence of heartburn, not one! and I love spicy food. Thx for the video, I will be retiring in 2 or 3 yrs & this info is gold, as Thailand is calling me.

To bring to Thailand? Swiss cherry schnapps, French mirabelle plum brandy, a ripe Brie de Meaux, Polish smoked wild game sausage with juniper, German Pfälzer liverwurst, and a bottle of very good wine from Burgundy. These are things you should bring back from Europe, and I don't think you'll find them even in the USA...

Not a cigar smoker, but a heavy vaper. My understanding is that due to the influence of the Thai tobacco industry, vaping is technically illegal throughout the country, though apparently people still do it at least in private, and some vaping supplies are sold commercially, though probably not of the highest quality. Next time I go back, I would try to bring my own batteries, coils and liquid with me, as long as it doesn't cause any issues getting through immigration.

Very occasionally I have issues with acid reflux. My first trip to Thailand I had an occurrence and every store I tried kept trying to sell me anti-gas medication. Finally found a pharmacy with antacids, tasted terrible and didn't work very well. Since then I bought some rolls of Tums and put in my suitcase. Another thing I couldn't find there were bottles of aspirin, I wound up buying the bubble packs of 10.

I read about charlesschwab and canceled the debit card if you do a lot of transactions outside the US and don't have a balance of 25k. Idk if that's true, but that's what I read

You previously mentioned that shaving was a problem 😂l bought a uk supermarket 3 blade razor which normally lasts a month, in Pattaya it lasts two days the problem l am certain is the water which causes a buildup of hair between the blades, to solve the problem l use the pointed end of a wooden intedent to clean between the blades after every shave😮

I used to travel to Taiwan and Japan with couple jars of JIF peanut butter and Welch's grape jelly when I went to work. Kind of heavy for luggage, but a little taste of home can go a long way when working night shift 7 days a week for a few months at a time.

Agree with antacids, Villa Market (Fritos and Doritos), Schwab, clothing sizing and never being stopped after passport control. I found one of the booths at Pattaya Night bazaar has T-shirts that don't shrink (it's in the back).

I always bring Cocktail sauce (can sometimes find at Villa) or quality horseradish - prefer it with my shrimp. Wish I could bring more than one bottle of booze, especially a good Bourbon and Tequila. Can't find stick deodorant/antiperspirant in Thailand, don't care for the rollerball type, sprays OK.

I did donate good sheets for the bed at the condo I rent every year. Also bring T-shirt for the girls as gifts, they say they're softer than the ones they buy.

I spoke with a company and they quoted something like $4k for door to door. Did you ship a mini container with personal stuff?
