is there a way to change language setting, mine is in Japanese. bought it from japan.

the crop factor is 2x so a 50mm on a micro four thirds is actually 100mm focal range in a full frame. keep that in mind.

What's the best lens for short films for G7

I have an Olympus E-M10 for photography but for video I bought a 2nd hand G7 for under 300. The difference in video quality is huge. I'm not even going to attempt to use the Oly fora a 2 cam setup.

I know your not considering buying another camera, but you can get the Bmpcc 4k , and its a banger for its price

I love my G7 .... for a long time my work horse was my rebel T2i ...I shot commercials paid gigs with that camera and even did a job which paid for my $4000 Custom build computer. Last year I switched to the Panasonic G7 and I’ve loved it ever since. I’m definitely going to buy the Panasonic G85 Which is $200 more than the G7 but you get a lot more like weather sealed....5 axis in body dual image stabilization and ect.

Always a great video, thanks! I will make one suggestion. While the G7 does have the BEST bang for the buck, a few of the issues you mentioned got addressed in the update to the G7, in the G85. It isn't much more money, about $150-200 more (ok, percentage wise that is a chunk), but also comes with their 12-60 kit lens which is supposed to be better, a better built body, water/dusk resistant, unlimited recording out of box (G7 can be modded for that as well), SD card is on the side (this is huge in real life production!), etc. Certainly worth considering.

That issue between contrast and face detection is even a problem for us stills photographers. Touching the area of focus helps a lot I have found. Not familiar with how this affects video mind.

The mic jack is by itself on purpose. It's so you can plug an external microphone in without it getting in the way of the flip out screen!

Just got a g7

Recently got one of these, was satisfied with the quality but noticed how hard it is to get smooth shots. I shoot graffiti on moving trains so I have to pan the camera as the graffiti goes by and sometimes the stabilization feature on final cut doesn’t work. Anything you recommend to help get more smooth shots?
