One Piece TCG: ST-24 Green Jewelry Bonney and ST-28 Green/Yellow Yamato Starter Deck Review

I feel like all these new decks are just future proofing because of the rotation of block 1 being banned next year. But what sucks is that some of the decks for example Bonney the cards don’t particularly seem for her deck… yes they will and can work of course but Carrot definitely benefits much more from that Law and Bepo card, and GY Law get buffed with a majority of those cards too. They should just start calling them STB’s Starter Booster Decks the boost previous decks and newer ones of the same colour

Yeah… I was going to come back to One Piece to play G/Y Yamato after seeing the announcements not anymore. Got my hopes up for nothing. This doesn’t do anything in Yamato’s matchups with black or really anything. Makes me mad even thinking about the amount of cope it takes to think she could be good. 3 life cards or more?! 1000 on Your turn?! All yellow?! What a joke. Maybe they should work on balancing black and purple.

Vv, Love your videos. Really hoping for a good upgrade to G/Y Law soon. Definitely my favorite leader so far next to the upcoming PY Rosinante. I know the cards aren't entirely out yet but if you see or have time I myself would love a PY Rosinante video. I understand though if he isn't the most popular leader coming out from the OP12 set though that BY Koala will be fun too. Keep up the great content! and thanks again.

In my opinion they did Bonney dirty as a Bonney player all these cards feel like they’re meant for GY Law

Thanks for the video! I've been eagerly awaiting the G/Y Yamato spoilers. Overall disappointed though as the deck needs real help to start to contend and here there are some small upgrades to some existing slots, but nothing is spectacular. The best upgrades IMO are:

2k counter Kinemon with the trigger from life to play it - I've been playing Satori anyway and Kinemon is strictly better in this Wano themed build. Get to add him to life with blocker momo to protect and play him again, or have a 2k which is nice. He's also a slash character, so another targer for Mihawk if you run that build.

1 cost searcher Yamato can replace the 1 cost 2k green Otama searcher. It searches for more targets (not locked to green) and has other synergies that fit the deck. You lose the 2k but the Kinemon above helps there.

I think the 6 cost momo is only good in the starter deck. In reality it's not going to contend with Hody Jones as a finisher.

What's crazy about the Doji is that against any 4 life leader, just one swing with Yamato could turn him off.

Gonna have to try 2c k&k searcher with zonji to see if a supernova hybrid zonji is viable..

This was a tough watch, not used to you beeing so over the top negative. These starters all are fine. Maybe some didnt fix what people hoped for. But these decks are all pretty playable.

Also the new cards dont have to be generic. Ofcourse momo is for yamato. Same why 6c black Kuzan is for Black Teach.

Momo is amazing for Yamato. It buffs the leader and she can use her don effect easier.

Also Doji would be absurtly broken if it was 3 or less life 😅

The Yamato searcher swings 5k with 2 Don invested whereas every other searcher needs 3 don attached to do so. It’s way better than all the other searcher and the restriction on it is needed.

You have completely missed the boat with the GY Yamato support. This is a deck that is meant to bolster GY Yamato specifically. You are too fixated on wanting these cards to be utility in other decks that you play. That was not the intention of this. I love GY Yamato and I am absolutely pumped about this support for the leader. You being so negative the entire time you were talking about the new cards was so incredibly frustrating that I turned off the video to write this. I understand your point of view, but your overall negativity made this video a tough watch.

Excluding the SR’s, the new (green) cards feel like “cavendish at home” utility. Not needed but lets someone play bonney for cheap. It’s correct for a starter deck but i’m underwhelmed. because of doffy starter/st-17 luffy power level we know bandai can print better decks and i’m not sure any of the starters are as out of the box competitive as those last time

Wish it had a non foil Cavindish even just 2 of would have helped soo many green players

The Izo is also searchable and able to be added back into life by blocker Momo.

I don’t think Bege is replacing Rosinate I think it’s replacing the I think OP01 Killer Blocker.

Bonney stuff for Bonney leader is a bit of a miss. The only thing I can say for Kid and Killer is that it is an anti-Hody Jones card where if you're sitting behind a DON and they rest it with Hody, you have Kid and Killer as a back-up to restand a DON

I know this is random, but I wanted to share a story with everyone. One of my friends actually quit the game after seeing how bad the Bonney support was compared to all the other starter decks. He sold his full rarity Bonnie list, and I honestly don't blame him. He told me:

"How is my leader going to compete against BP luffy where they search every turn, and gum-gum giant being an oppressive defensive option. The starter gave Bonney a worse 10c doffy, , a 2c searcher which is not needed, the 2k counters were maybe the only upgrades the deck will make. Green is apparently the forgotten child by Bandai , we still are using Kid from OP01 as our defensive option, and nothing has changed for green since then."

After hearing his point, I kinda agree with him. I hate to be negative, but the green color has been the least impressive compared to what the other colors do.

I feel like the shanks deck, the Bonny deck is just to make certain archetypes just better. Shanks makes uta and film better, while Bonny is just making supernovas and minks better. They’re just locked behind buying starter decks versus boxes of packs.

I think Law n Bepo might do really good in carrot. Being a searchable big body AND able to restand at end of turn w zou will make it really sticky and hard to get rid of. Question is what will it replace w other big bodies usually including 10c doffy, hody, and sometimes 9c shanks.

I really like Yamato's new cards, except for Kin'emon, who I think is meant to replace the 2k counter Satori. However, Satori is still better because it's a 5-cost card. If that Kin was 5-cost and everything was the same, it would be perfect.

until today, Yamato´s biggest problem is finish her matches, is so hard to win even when you can do a lot of damage on the first 3 turns. You need something like Hody for rest don, rest blockers and rush. In this starter they give us nothing in that way, and even worse, SR Yamato searcher cannot pick the 1 cost event for rest 4 cost cards.
You just get 5 random mid cards that give you nothing you actually need to get a better Yamato build.


That +3000 on yamato is like a +1000. It should be 1 cost 2000 power, not 0.

The best placement with Bonney in EB02 uses that supernova Luffy. Interesting list

I agree with Vv that these g/y Yamato cards are pretty underwhelming and disappointing. Compare these to any other support for any meta deck, and you wonder why these are so restrictive and underpowered despite their conditions for usage

Ashura Doji is a monstrous card imho. It's stronger like this rather than 3 or less...too strong in early.

Man I wish that Momo was a 5c. Imagine this in UY Ace 😭 Still gonna try it though.

Another thing to mention for the Momo, on a turn that you want to use all 10 don to attach to characters and swing big you can use his effect to return 2 as rested then use Yamato effect to reattach them to another character allowing you to use 12 don attached in 1 turn

The new bege blocker could potentially be a replacement in decks running 2c Killer Blocker, since you dont have to do so much for the draw effect

For momo you don’t need to return the don from Momo. It can be from any character in any combination. So on curve you play him, use leader to attach 2 don to any other character, swing with it with the don, then use momo to return those don, get 1k and rush. In the late game when going for lethal, you can attach two don normally to a character, get the swing in, then use momo to bring those don back and reattach them with leader effect, giving you 3k additional power for the lethal turn. It’s also a 6c 8k rush that gives your leader 1k power. 5c rush Luffy is a 5c rush that it worth 7k power and 1k additional a turn and it’s amazing. This is 6c for 9k power that is giving that 1k additional a turn and also has additional synergy when going for lethal. For Yamato it’s just a better st21 rush Luffy. Card is fantastic

i think Doji as 3 or less would be broken, i mean a 3 don for a 5 at the late game is nuts. they balance it right and 3 life being the sweet spot. sadly 4 life leader will be inmune.

I think the Ashura Doji card was worded that way so it would be helpful in getting rid of low cost blockers so you could swing at life with Yamato to get them to that 3 life threshold for her ability. I think you're looking to much into the "there's already been all this established 3 or less life" thing and not realizing it's probably meant to deal with 5 cost or less blockers to be able to swing into the opponents life with Yamato.

Here is my counterpoint to the searchers being the SRs:
I don’t think Bandai is going to put either Kid & Killer or Yamato as 4 of’s in their respective decks. It’d still be 2 copies, so it doesn’t really matter if they are SRs or Commons.

When I saw the Momonosuke I immediately thought to run it on UY Nami with the 2c Teach that gives 2 rested don to a leader or character, that way you can play it on curve if Teach was already on the board

For the Momo, you can also attatch the don to a character played on the previous turn. The don does not have to bw attatched to the momo. It can also be used to go for game by reusing attached don, effectively meaning you have 14 don. The whole point of the st is to make the WANO versiom of yamato better- all of these are things which are searchable amd build consistency for it- a searchable O-Nami, a new searcher, a better later game play, most of which are additional targets for the 5c momo from op06
