I’ve been Practicing digital art for a year with the intention to animate soon and the ai thing kinda scared me, felt lost. I’m positive at art will get better ofc but it can’t fully express what the animator wants, it’s like how we don’t trace the sketch and paint over it cause we won’t be able to express fully, painting slowly with reference, trying to capture what the reference portrays is what the art is, that’s what I think. Thanks Aaron for the videos, I’ll continue leanrning animation then🫶🫶🙇🏻♂️
ОтветитьIk nobody asked but personally I think the bigger problem are the people in charge of the animation studios that only wish to make money and abuse it
Ответитьwill there ever be resurgence of the classic animation style that was used in films like Lion King Or Aladdin? I get CGI is more cost and time efficient, but I feel the tedious process of the old animation creates this environment that will capture the human essence and artistic expression people really crave in disney works.
ОтветитьLooking at it if anything makes you appreciate human work.
Ответитьat the end there it sounds like your against AI in the writing process? not the animation. would that be a fair summary?
ОтветитьWith generative AI, people will have images and animations on their hands that, yeah, they wouldn't have had access to beforehand. My issue with all of this is these same people claim to have created those images and animations. This couldn't be further from the truth. As long as gnerative AI enthusiasts say it as it is and don't claim even a sliver credit for themselves, whilst acknowledging the art that their oh-so-useful "tool" stole from, it's only then that they've made ethical use of their thieving tool. But as it stands, users of generative AI openly continue to take advantage of and bash on the craft of real artists, all while claiming it's their creativity doing all the work.
ОтветитьAI cannot beat the way you and your team created brother bear and all those classics
ОтветитьAs long as they arent leeching off the work of artists with exploitative data policies where they arent compensated in anyway for the success of the software their work helped to train then i dont think its an issue. If they need the work of artists to train their software they should have to pay for it, its as simple as that.
ОтветитьLooking backl these are just gimmicky toys people dont really need, or pros should worry about.
And the people defending them usually are just wanting the pie, running with the trend, and selfish trying to gain from it.
Far more rational, my arse.
Ethan Hawke was in Waking life. keanu was in A Scanner Darkly
Ответитьvery well said the parallels you compared this animation to were good examples. But the youth should not go to digital directly, they should have the "right" to draw like we did.
ОтветитьCorrect me if I’m wrong, but I feel like this is more on the line of video editing rather than animation. The process I mean not necessarily the result
Ответитьthe Human hand over robots!
Ответитьthis is when i stopped and desubbed on CorridorCrew
ОтветитьYou said it... "Anybody with the technical prowess can now create a world of their own." That's the death blow for artists across the board. I know. I am one.
ОтветитьThe same thing they said when 3D came out. AI is not a threat to animation. Period
Ответитьdam wise words
ОтветитьYou’re so handsome 😊
ОтветитьThis was almost 2 years ago. AI animation is so much better now
ОтветитьWhen I was planning to make a graphic novel I saw how easy it is for ai to change that
ОтветитьNow if you could input your favorite book and have AI ANIMATE IT. That would be amazing.
Ответитьthank you so much for sharing your thoughts, exactly what I was thinking about the matter. this is encouraging.
ОтветитьAlthough he didn't follow his own logic in his later movies, George Lucas famously said that an effect without a story is meaningless. This new technology will suffer from the same potential if it's not utilized in service to a great story.
ОтветитьA lot of people mad at this dont get to realise this is supposed to be ironic and shouldn't be taken seriously
ОтветитьI wonder if they could’ve shot in poses or hand picked the frames to be used instead of just lowering the frame rate, if it would look less rotoscoped and more like animation
ОтветитьAs a musician and with the increase in AI generated music in recent times, I've thought about the whole situation regarding training AI on other peoples work without their consent quite a bit and i have a different perspective to the common disliking of the practice which is so common today.. although AI is trained on other peoples work, so was I, I never asked chopin for permission to learn his style and creating a new piece of music using the knowledge of musical styles that ive learned wouodnt by any means be considered unethical as thats how every art comes into being.. the artist learns from others then uses the techniques used to create something within the boundaries of that knowledge but unique to varying degrees. So.. when an AI is trained off other peoples outputs I see no real difference from a human artist studying a lot of other artists work then using what was acquired from that study in their own creations. And as a final note.. cover bands exist, that's literally directly copying an artist and barely anyone criticises them for their actions. Just some of my thoughts on the situation anyway, have a great day everyone. 🕊
ОтветитьI think what worries people about AI is thinking you can just type a prompt and get the next Lion King. When in reality you look at all the work Corridor put into making an "AI" generated anime. They still had a full on production to pull it off, including 3D sets made in UE. On top of that all the filmed reference to train the AI. Its a ton of work and the end product isnt perfect, but unique and its own thing. Art will always require an artists touch to truly break through.
ОтветитьAI would replace low skill labour. High skill like what this guy do will be fine. Until making animation with AI becomes cheaper then it will affect him. The same way there is barely 2D animation right now because good quality of 2D animation is way much more expensive than 3D animations. I prefer 2D over 3D but it's more expensive. I hate that people accept more and more for lower quality of art.
Ответитьthank you sir this video is great
ОтветитьDisney's flops tells you the truth: nobody wants cheap CGI computer created slob, much less AI art. We want art back, beautiful, well written and possibly hand drawn.
ОтветитьI was following what you were saying until you said the animation wasnt distracting...it so very much was, rotoscoping atleast had attention to detail, ai animation disgards detail for faster results, its like putting an omelette on high heat expecting it to cook faster and taste good at the same time.
ОтветитьAi will never replace real animators or real artists even if they try
ОтветитьI think you mean extinct
ОтветитьI reckon that AI has/will have big issues dealing with the most common step of the production process - changes. Making changes, especially subtle ones is something it will always fail, against a human. Definitely the biggest threat is that everyone lowers their creative expectations. It’s already happened in advertising, thanks to social media.
Ответитьits a transition, a combination, whatever it takes to move forward, there is no right answer, but just the art itself
ОтветитьWhen the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent because I wasn’t a communist.
When they came for the socialists, I remained silent because I wasn’t a socialist.
When they came for the trade unionists, I remained silent because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews, I remained silent because I wasn’t a Jew.
When they came for the gypsies, I remained silent because I wasn’t a gypsy.
When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out."
Believe me in next 5 years Ai animation will be more improve, just imagine what will they become in next 20 years
Ответитьall artists borrow from other artists and their sweat
ОтветитьCongratulations ! very good review and I totally agree with your point of view.
ОтветитьI would understand the AI scare if 1. AI was any good on its own and 2. I, an artist, had ever successfully made a single penny off being an artist after 30 years of making art
I think if we let more artists have art jobs, I'd care more. There were plenty of other people and methods stealing my potential job before AI was even a concept
Once again it shows that AI is really just IA: Intelligent Assistance
ОтветитьWhy do I feel there is something evil in the AI-generated stuff?
Ответитьmore like EW animation
Ответитьyou are not erman toroğlu bro
ОтветитьYou can create a style in ai. You know about clip art, however. Clip art allows you to use other people’s work and call it your own. Is that bad? Copying has been around for a long long time. Art museums were created for instruction. I love original work, but in my original work, i include styles i love in other people’s work. Copying is the name of the game of human life. We grow on other people’s work, then contribute our own to the mix.
ОтветитьSo not a single person involved put pen to paper, stylus to pad, and yet you have a cartoon. It’s theft. You can’t build artworks without an artist. It’s taken from somewhere.
ОтветитьYou were so kind and sound. I have so much appreciation and respect for all the work you put to make our childhoods great (I'm not crying...). So did you work on Disney Renaissance titles? Gosh, seriously, thank you thank you for putting out those masterpieces! Thank you very much!!
