Dehkontee Sayon, former captain of the Liberian National Football Team and 2008 Homeless World Cup MVP, spent most of the first 15 years of her life in refugee camps.
As Coordinator of Women's Football at Football to Develop Destitute (FODEDE) in Liberia, she uses her experience to mentor young girls in her community, empowering them to address the challenges they face.
As a university student of sociology, Dehkontee is currently researching teen pregnancy. As a leader in her community, she works to teach girls the value in education and knowledge around reproductive health.
