The far far more common way to manipulate people into working for free, is to assign more work to them than they can complete in the available time, so they have to go unpaid overtime to complete it.... (evil)

Fun fact, when you call some company, and you get that "this call is being recorded for training purposes" message, that means YOU can record the call without announcing it, because they've implicitly agreed to the recording. So, when (not if) the company tries to screw you over and doesn't actually record — despite their notice — you have the recording to prove it, in court, if necessary.

I've installed a call recorder in my phone for my protection from all sorts of situations - family, friends, work, customer service, social media, etc. These days one has to fight fire with fire or get burned helplessly.

Welcome to IT Support, where people in the office on Sunday evening having a tech problem is a totally justifiably reason to call and demand tech support come in, even though that person usually clocks over 40 hours (with no overtime) on their weekdays.
