For World’s Finest, I like that, in the ‘70s (based on the JLA satellite and other stuff), Clark and Bruce realize that various members of the JLA were possessed by Eclipso before this comic ends with Red Tornado needing the JSA’s help to help the JLA defeat Eclipso and save the world. Mark Waid has done excellent work on handling the JLA and making sure that they would get to do something interesting. Adrian Gutierrez has done excellent work in the art and coloring, which is better than his art on the recent Blue Beetle series. Hope that the JSA will aid the JLA on defeating Eclipso as part of a JLA/JSA team up. Overall, this is a great comic.

For Catwoman, the only good thing about this comic is that this is Tini Howard’s final issue of this comic. That’s it.

For Absolute Power: Super Son, based on reading this comic, I like that Nicole Maines and Sina Grace wrote Jon as a person who has suffered a lot of pain and trauma throughout Absolute Power, since we haven’t seen him be psychologically scarred after he was freed from the Brainiac Queen’s control. I like that Dreamer (who is in Jon’s mind after her supposed death) helped Jon take control of himself by accepting his pain and trauma as his own before he was able to free himself from mind control and say goodbye to her one last time. The unsurprising thing about this comic is that we get to see Jon and Jay interact with each other. Based on what they’re about to say, I knew that they would talk about what has happened all throughout Absolute Power (i.e. Jay’s mom getting kidded in the second issue of Dream Team, Dreamer working for Waller). Because of this, I assume that they’re going to break up, since (in my opinion) their relationship has been forced and unnecessary for the past three years (NOTHING ELSE). However, since Jon doesn’t want to lose Jay (since he lost almost everything), he thinks that their moving to San Francisco would fix their relationship, which is a dead end and would result in their relationship permanently ending after Absolute Power. Even if Jon and Jay decided to move to San Francisco after Absolute Power (resulting in them having an ongoing series written by Nicole Maines which might get canceled after at most twelve issues), then their relationship would strain and worsen overtime because of everything that’s happened to them since Absolute Power. Heck, I find it hilarious that Jon wants to go to San Francisco with Jay just to spend time together instead of talking it through and straining their relationship. Even though I view Jon and Nia as friends, I wouldn’t mind him pursuing a romantic relationship with her, since he has better chemistry with her than with Jay, which explains why Nicole Maines has said that the love triangle is Jon, Jay, and Nia is a lot like Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Wolverine (with Jay as Cyclops, Jon as Jean Grey, and Nia as Wolverine). Nicole Maines and Sina Grace have done an excellent job writing about Jon and his (probably) strained relationship with Jay. Let’s hope that the final issue of Absolute Power will result in all of the heroes defeating Waller and saving the world and Jon realizing that Jay dumped him because of what happened in Absolute Power and that they couldn’t make their relationship work because of it. Overall, this comic is great and is better than what Tom Taylor has written about Jon from the past three years.

For Wonder Woman, I like that Diana and Steve spent this issue embracing themselves one another before they and Damian freed the superheroes and battled Waller’s forces. Overall, this is a good comic.
For that Super Sons backup, I find it hilarious that Damian told Lizzie how she was probably conceived, since he’s the unreliable narrator just like future Ted Moseby (voiced by Bob Saget) in HIMYM. Overall, this was a good and hilarious backup.

For Superman, I like that Clark and Zatanna made a deal with Neron to make sure that they can retrieve something so that they can deal with Waller’s forces. I also like that they traveled to the House of Heroes and encountered Kimyo Hoshi Dr. Light (who last appeared in Dark Crisis) before they were able to defeat Konfusion (who might be an evil version of Conner Kent because of his name and that he last appeared in Dark Crisis). I feel bad that Zatanna doesn’t have a civilian life, since she barely has a supporting cast and spends time with the JLD and John Constantine. Also, Lois, Jimmy, Lex, Mercy, and Livewire checking the Fortress of Solitude and catching up with Clark and Zatanna to tell each other what is happening. Let’s hope that after Absolute Power, all of the heroes’ powers will return. Overall, this is a great comic.

For the Spider-Boy Annual, I like that Bailey and Christina encountered the mind and power stone bearers and Misty Knight and worked together to defeat the Circus of Crime. The one thing I can criticize is the art because the drawing of Bailey shows that he looks and acts six years old, even though that he should look and act ten. Aside from that, this comic is alright.
For the Phil Coulson backup, I like that Phil and Fury talk to each other about Phil’s death before they are at a diner and met a time stone bearer. Overall, this is a good backup.

For Deadpool, I like that we get to see Wade be a guy in a chair so that he can be there to train Ellie and Princess and on dealing with rival forces, with Taskmaster watcher her like he’s an uncle/coach to her. Also, Ellie having a nice superhero suit and Wade getting killed by Murmasa (who was somehow alive after he was supposedly killed last issue) as shown in the final page. Overall, this is a good and enjoyable comic.

For Spider-Society, It’s just the Spider-Society fighting the Sinister Squadron, whose leader is an evil version of Aunt May and whose plan is to find the Spider-Society to restore their universes. That’s it. I predict that this comic will end with the Spider-Society saving the Spider-verse and helping the Sinister Squadron restore their universes after all of this.

I liked Avengers. Not great, but it was good. Afterball they are not the Justice League, they are capable of making tougher decisions. The weakest thing is how conveniently Vision decided to ask the ship if it could make portals to other universes. But that gave Hyperion a new opportunity.

I am hating the current Daredevil. 😢 I reckon the art needs to be like Gotham, all dark and dreary, not bright pastel colours. As for the writing, it is weak, too many demons and non-street level stuff.

And isn't this Hyperion a Mephisto clone? so yeah them considering killing him wouldn't be weird.

I was pretty excited for Avengers 18, and thought they'd tie in Zarda and Red Widow brainwash Hyperion. And especially since we've been seeing Nighthawk in other comics trying to get a resurrected Coulson to bring back the world that Mephisto made. The one were the Squadron Supreme of America were the only heroes, and loved by everyone. I don't mind that there was no action, as long as it was leading to something big or big-ish. Hopefully a conclusion in the next couple of issues about Squadron Supreme of America from 3 years ago would have been great. They have left it just hanging for so long now. I don't know if they will get into it, but so far the only connection we got was Hyperion escaping the place Red Widow and Zarda kept him. And Hyperion going on about the world not being real, and Blade revealing to everyone what happened. Plus the few issues we've got of Nighthawk and Coulson. Again I didn't mind that there was no real action, but I'm hoping this isn't a one and done deal. I agree the whole lets just kill him was odd. I mean sure they want to show how bad the situation is, and that Hyperion is so dangerous they felt they had no other option. But you'd think they would of at least tried to come up with another plan, even for a few seconds. I haven't read the other comics mentioned, but I may checkout the X-Men. Cause I'm so down for some Sugar Man, Fitzroy and the Upstarts.

Who remember when "AVENGERS DON'T KILL" was the team main motto? It's so awful see Carol Danvers wanting straight up kill Hyperion. She's a terrible leader for the team. We had the X-Men being sadistic killers since the last year and now the Avengers don't are better than them too. This was another bad week for comics. Just indie stuff was good.

I respectfully disagree that Avengers 18 was as bad as you say. Let's talk about the good. I thought the art from Valerio Schiti was very good. Hyperion flying through space at near-light speeds looked very cool. The pacing is very good. Even though we are following the mini plans of several characters as we go along, everything flows well. There are no confusing steps from panel to panel and scene to scene.

Yes, there are no action scenes where people are fighting. But the plot still moves forward and the emotionality of the characters moves forward as well. We do not need fighting scenes to have a good issue of Avengers. Sometimes superheroes can't just punch their way to solutions (especially when the obstacle is traveling through space at near light speeds and even pinpointing the obstacles location at a given time is near impossible. Albeit immoral, I think the solution the Avengers come up with is actually very creative.

And speaking of immoral Avengers, they are not pretenders because all but one of them chose to kill Hyperion to save Earth. Are we reading the same Avengers stories? Most of these heroes are stone cold killers when the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Black Panther, Tony Stark, and Doctor Strange were members of the Illuminati. They did some horrible things to save their universe. Tony has learned some lessons but has always been self-righteous and ready to sacrifice some dudes to save a lot fewer people than everyone on Earth. Scarlett Witch has done some terrible things to large masses of people (House of M?). Clea and Strange have individually done some terrible things in their past for the greater good. Thor has shown some morals for a living God. But he is distracted by the guilt of his actions in his own book.

Given how much the Avengers are collaborating with mutants, it's obvious they do not care about the morally just solution. This is based on how many evil, malicious, immoral things the mutants did while on Krakoa. Nobody has really absolved them of their crimes. And why in the hell are the Avengers trusting Blade after everything destructive he did in Blood Hunt (whether he was possessed or not). It makes sense that Vision is the voice of reason amongst these immoral a-holes. And it is ironic because a living machine showing more humanity than all of these organic Avengers members combined. I can't speak for Captain Marvel. I always thought she was kind of a generic overpowered character. But I have yet to read more than an issue or 2 of any of her runs in the last 10-15 years.

You guys have to branch out a little bit with your recommendations. Just because most of the Big 2 books this week are lackluster doesn't make this a bad week for comics. You forgot to mention several Indy out this week that were actually really good: Paranoid Gardens 3, The Power Fantasy 2, The Moon is Following Us 1, Tin Can Society 1, Falling in Love on the Path to Hell 4, and TMNT: Mutant Nation 1. Don't believe the doom and gloom that there is not much good out there this week. Please check out the series I mention above and try to expand your comic recommendations just a little. And do not get stuck on the idea that if there is no superhero/vigilante punch-fest or gunplay action, the issue is not good. Just read The Power Fantasy 2 and don't skip Kieron Gillen's essay at the end of the issue.

Calling it murder is way over the top. Unlike the Orchis mooks the X-men were killing, this is a Superman analogue on his way to destroy the planet in a short period of time at almost unstoppable relativistic speeds. That's self-defense and defense of others. Hyperion seemed to set up a version of the Trolley Problem that would force the Avengers to kill him. If it was your family at risk, would you have wanted another course that had even a 1% chance of failure? In the end, the Avengers did choose a course that preserved Hyperion's life.
As for the woman, she was a baseline human for all of her life, past the time mutant powers emerge. It would be more logical to think she'd been altered like the FF were.

Modern post Captian Marvel Carol is a villain who strangely everyone in the Marvel universe just believes is a hero. So her choosing to kill Hyperion off the bat is not a surprise and is totally in character (the rest of the Avengers going along with it and not as a last resort is perhaps out of character but then I haven't read Avengers in ages, maybe they're also all trigger happy kill 'em all characters now as well). X-Men since Krakoa are also pretty blood thirsty, so most of them wouldn't have a problem there.

Otherwise, Wolverine: Deep Cut remains amazing, Claremont is definitely back at his best writing in this period.

The only truly good X-Men related book out right now (need to see how #2 of Revenge pans out to decide on that one, Wolverine & Uncanny X-Men ongoing are okay but need work to get better, which is still a big question mark over them).

As a " Lifetime " Avengers fan, to be fair, even back in the day , Carol was always a hard ass ( as in Hard decisions). As Warbird she killed " The Master" no problem, to get his tech for the Avengers to fight the Kang War, and when she absorbed his Warships' power she EASILY killed a few hundred Kang troops😢 Heck, wasn't she teamed with Logan a time or two back in the day? And her battle with the " Super Skrulls" in Secret Invasion? Girl was in straight kill mode😮...No I DONT care for her being the " Uber Marvel".....But she was always kinda vicious in combat.
