I like it BIG! - MacBook Air 15"

So glad someone mentioned the weight of the15" MBA. I had the exact same thoughts when I first picked it up. I was disappointed. I am glad I didn't buy it blindly, and went for the 13" instead.

Although apple is killin it with the M2, I still feel like we need to talk about how much they charge for extra memory. The fact that 2TB nvme ssds are literally 100$ right now and Apple charges an extra 600 fucking dollars for the 2TB model should literally be illegal lmao. And since it's not a Windows machine, I can't just upgrade it myself. Honestly, I would consider switching from windows laptops if this wasn't the case, because M2 is so tempting.

I imagine the notch space was needed for the camera and if that is the case than the question is would you rather have a giant bezel with the menu bar under it or a moth with th menu bar to the side of it

I'm watching this on the 15" Air and it still fits in my backpack. It's either sitting on my lap, a table or in my bag and it's not a noticeable difference from my 13" M2 Air. Ever since my switch to Mac I've been sad about the larger laptops being nearly $3000. The only reason I got a new computer from my old one because of the size. I am SO happy with it. I recommend this over the 13" 100% based only on size. The speakers were just a nice surprise.

okay this seems extremely biased. I bought the 15" 16gb ram and 512 ssd for graphic design, photo editing and video editing. and i haven't felt or noticed any let down considering it's speed

I just got one of these last week, 15" Air 1TB/16Gb in Starlight...I upgraded from the 13 inch M2 and it was well worth it for the extra screen real estate, it's an amazing laptop for what it is.

if you match the specs on the 13 inch and the 15 inch, the price difference is basically negligible

I prefer the slightly thicker 14 inch pro and better cooling by far.

the notch is not intrusive as the screen adds the 2% extra height just for ne notch, which either divides the menu bar or is invisible (blanked out with black background) in fullscreen mode.

The HDR display is only useful for HDR content. I rather have a slightly larger SDR screen for my every-day work.

Humble Request : Please can you give me away your any unused old macbook ( air, trashcan mac, or mini). That'll be life saver for a student who can't afford a good machine but have high ambition.

The notch... that's a no buy for me... remove that ugly notch and I'd buy it right away. Nobody wants a notch in 2023 and certainly not on a laptop screen.

You start out the video praising the 13” saying “…it’s not even that expensive” yet you make countless references to “how expensive” the 15” model is which is only $200 more than its 13” counterpart. Seems pretty inconsistent.

I love when reviewers complain about Apple prioritizing thinness over function/battery life, then continue making fun of them when they make the laptops heavier again in order to fit more battery and better hardware. Like do you want it thinner and lighter at all costs or do you not?

Notch on the phone I adapted to. Notch on a laptop is a hard dealbreaker for me... I can't be the only one right?

I really like that check joke. I've been there with Apple. I will never forget the day I bought my 15'' MacBook Pro. It has held up well over the years.

Just a few hundred dollars less that the M1 pro 14 inch with a higher res screen that's almost 3 times brighter almost the same weight lots more ports sd card slot and all you get is a slightly larger inferior screen, go with the M1 pro 14 it's a no brainer imho

The notch is such a non issue for me don’t even notice it. Especially on the 15”. Used Dells for years switched to mac years ago and never looked back. But hey to each their own. Your money buy what you want. Plenty of choices and they basically all do the same. Thing Everybody’s a critic of something when it comes to computers.

For most people, the base M2 15 inch will be sufficient. I think people who make videos like this need to understand that the base specs may be terrible for a PC, but they are perfectly fine for a Mac. I've been rolling with 8gb RAM and 256gb SSD for a few years and haven't noticed any difference with performance. I do light photo editing, schoolwork, light gaming, etc., and the thing works really well. The battery is fantastic, I've never had a PC run on battery power for more than 5 hours.

The $1300 USD MacBook Air 15's biggest competition is the 14" M1 MacBook Pro which regularly sells for only ~$200 more, on Apple's website. The M2 MBP 14 isn't much more, if they don't have the M1 MBP 14 in stock. Both configurations have double the RAM and storage of the base model MBA 15, active cooling, more ports and are faster with nicer screens.

If I'd wanted a review of the HP Dragonfly or of the 14" Macbook pro then I would have watched a video about THOSE machines!
An Air model is NEVER going to be as good as a Pro model so why keep bringing it up?!
