So Crawley got you huh...
Ответитьquite interesting
ОтветитьI dont think He was insane at all. I think he was a victim of some evil people in Asylum.
ОтветитьThis is one of, if not the best, movies ive ever seem
Ответитьtruth be told, this movie intentionally leads a purely objective thinker to the conclusion that there can be no certain conclusion.
all who reach a conclusion have relied on bias in order to reach that conclusion.
the conclusion that andrew is delusional and the conclusion that teddy has been meticulously brainwashed remain EQUALLY PLAUSIBLE, all the way to the very end.
if teddy refuses to be beainwashed, their work failed and he gets invalidated by lobotomy.
if andrew refuses to break free from his delusional state, their work failed and he gets invalidated by lobotomy.
two different routes to the same end goal: accept OUR truth as THE truth.
both undertakings would be studies of equal importance to, say, the CIA in their potential to subdue and control the minds of adversaries.
the old lady's glass never had water in it though. you never hear water being poured into it, and you see no water line through the side of the glass when it is handed to her.
when teddy takes the aspirin, his water glass vanishes after teddy swallows the pills dry.
So why would Dr. Sheehan ask Teddy “Do you have a girl?” When he was on the boat?
Wouldn’t that be EXTREMELY triggering for a mental patient with insane delusions and unpredictable behavior?
It goes to show that even through trauma we can still endure. He could have ended it when his wife ended the kids but he didn’t.
ОтветитьWhat about the storm? They talk about it when he's not around, they give him dry clothes after being soaked by the storm, he sleeps with patients in the main building bc they were moved due to flooding from the storm, then at the end they tell him there never was a storm.
ОтветитьThere are also water rings on the table, implying she had the water for longer than depicted
ОтветитьBest breakdown
ОтветитьGood job on this explanation brother! Thank you!
ОтветитьHuman brain is the most beautiful yet the most scariest thing..
ОтветитьIt’s just called ‘Casino’
ОтветитьThis film was/is a CHARADE from start to finish, and authoritarian-institutional propaganda! The field of "psychiatry" is a deep-dark-evil enterprise make no mistake, and much butchery & experiments were taking place on that island!
Ответитьi remember my brother asked to watch this movie when i was a kid, this was the first time i get existential crisis from a movie
ОтветитьTeddy is a test subject for an MKUltra program. He fought in war and was a US Marshal. If they could break him, change his reality and identity, they could break anyone
ОтветитьWas the dr in the cave just an illusion???
ОтветитьPeople who use the last line in the movie as proof that he’s not Teddy aren’t truly getting it. It could mean he’s accepted the fact that he’s been gas lit and is now trapped and chooses to get the lobotomy as Teddy rather than rot and be framed as Andrew.
Ответитьi had this side theory in my head that teddy was the patient and he made everything up in his head since the beginning of the movie when they first mentioned how the missing patient disillusioned that she was living at her house with a normal life, this informative was mentioned quite suggestively a few times, so the end twist didn't hit quite as hard but still..what a movie plot! however, the scene where he woke up and seemed to come to himself.. there was just something off about it and i wasn't exactly sure why..anyway definitely needs a rewatch
ОтветитьI always felt shutter island was inspired from the classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
ОтветитьNot you calling a middle-aged woman “old” 😂
ОтветитьGOATED VIDEO
ОтветитьHow do you know what every detail mean?
ОтветитьTeddy also gives the holster as well, not just the gun. The issue is how much difficulty "Chuck" had with taking his out.
ОтветитьJeez, I wouldn't describe her as an old woman.
ОтветитьI'm still holding firm with the belief that Teddy isn't Andrew at all, and he's just being gaslit by the island into thinking he's crazy so the doctor's reputation isn't ruined when he finds out some of the ongoings there aren't exactly 'up to code'
ОтветитьI think this video and most people actually miss the point of the film. In addition to the evidence of Teddy actually being Laedis, there is also plenty evidence that he is actually Teddy and that the hospital is doing an experiment on him to make him believe he's Laedis (such as cave Rachel telling Teddy how the lobotomies are done with a long needle, and then that precise needle is shown at the end of the movie, when they're about to lobotomize him). And yeah, these two possibilities are highlighted by the fire and water symbolism.
However, the evidence for either possibility is balanced to be equally as compelling, and thus keep the audience guessing what is real and what is not, and give them the feeling of not knowing what reality is, just as the main character feels. I believe this was the actual intention of the film and that everyone is missing the point.
I didn't catch the twist the first time I watched this movie, which I love. I usually do catch twists long before they are revealed. I had figured there was something going on with "Chuck" when he couldn't take a gun out of its holster. I spent the movie wondering who he really was, and I expected the twist to just be the revelation of his identity and purpose. But once I knew the truth of the film, I started noticing the ever-so-subtle clues when I watched the film, and I've watched it several times.
ОтветитьGeorge telling teddy that it’s all a game and he’s not investigating anything is writing genius. At that point you think he means they only brought teddy there to make him a patient cause he was asking questions, and it’s all a ruse. But when you know the truth on rewatch, mindblowing
ОтветитьDude brilliant vid
ОтветитьIt's a whole lot of gaslighting.
ОтветитьYeah he definitely wasnt a real cop and they definitely werent fooling him into believing he was a mental patient to stop him from finding the truth about the island
ОтветитьWith my best Friend as my witness, I called the twist as soon as the officers had the two "Marshall's" hand over their weapons
ОтветитьPeople fail to realize everytime something weird happens smoke is around. Smoke from the cigarettes, gun smoke at the end, Collins cigars and asiprins. They gas lit him to the highest extent
ОтветитьI actually view the fire as reality, and yhe water as trying to wash away his reality to make teddy crack
ОтветитьI like the theory that the ending is a fakeout and Teddy IS a marshal and they're practicing a method of turning a sane person insane. It's got holes and the lobotomy thing at the end kinda messes it up imo but still fun.
ОтветитьTeddy wasnt crazy or a patient. It was all a conspiracy. He chose to die as he was instead of what they where planning.
ОтветитьShe's like 47.
Ответитьit is even called shot her island
ОтветитьWhat's really tragic was that everyone in the island even Noyce wanted to help him
Ответитьim surprised you didnt mention the detail where mark ruffalo's character signals to the guards during the interview scene
ОтветитьI almost wanted it to be a reverse twist and they were ACTUALLY trying to gaslight him. When that scene started all I wanted was for it to be an elaborate mind game they’re playing on him and for him to break out but then it gets more and more convincing to the point that it could not be a lie… then you’re like oooooh shit I can’t get out can i
ОтветитьThis makes you almost not hate his wife for what she did. If it was any other movie, any other character, we would have hated her but not in this movie because Andrew makes us realise in the whole movie how real this could all be for people dealing with mental disorders, so real that in the ending scene we were all convinced how they're trying to make him feel that he is crazy. We were immediately on his side since the beginning even with the glass scene, with the rats in the cliffs scene, with so many details but we chose to avoid it all because we were on his side. That's how real it is for these people. This is what drives them to do the things they do.
ОтветитьSame things over and over - You create an illusion to make me despite someone because he is son of someone extreamly powerful who want to use everything he have for brutal revange. Its pointless . Ask yourself who is the father and the family history of people around me and you will find overall profile of group who want to destroy my life.
ОтветитьI literally just watched this film 10mins ago and am CONVINCED my theory is correct
HES NOT CRAZY
Here's my argument :
The Boat: How the fuck did Teddy get on the boat if this is all an elaborate scheme to bring him back?
The use of water: Every scene with water makes him ill, or some revelation about how the Asylum is evil comes to play, when he's in the cells talking to George, his wife is wet and there's a significant amount of blue in the scene, he tells Teddy "Don't listen to her" and "This is all for you" telling him that his illusions are results of the drugs he's being given, at they are not real, neither is their lies. Remember the woman who tells Teddy to run, asks for water and DOESNT EVEN DRINK IT, signifying that there its all a lie, there is no glass, its all fake.
The fire: Every scene with fire is the truth, the matches, the fire in the cave, his wifes death, George, etc etc, this is because his wife did die in the fire and not the water.
Ruffalo and the drugs: Pretty self explanatory, Ruffalo isn't a detective, he is the Asylums doctor and is trying to rope Teddy in, think about the cigarette at the edge of the cliff, pretty coincidental, the jacket in the water, they are trying to make Teddy mad by pretending he had no partner, that he was the doctor all along, hence the apparent cliff death.
His kids: Teddy had no kids, the kids we see, the fake Rachel with the black hair, were from the concentration camp he saw when he was a soldier, they were a dead family, and the asylum used that to pretend he had a family, remember what Real Rachel said in the cave, they try to find a past incident of trauma in your life and use it against you. He also says at the end he had no kids.
At the end: Teddy does not seem Crazy AT ALL, infact he seems completely normal, kind of strange considering he's some wacky lunatic that killed his wife. No, he's aware he's never leaving the island, he can't escape, so he fools everyone in thinking he's hopeless, by telling them he's Andrew, then he's Teddy again, so he becomes Lobotimized and rids himself of the nightmare. Live a monster speech. Last scene is of the Lighthouse after they have taken him away. Because that IS where they do experiments on people. Think about it, ITS THE LAST SCENE of the movie, if he IS crazy why not end it sooner? Why is it ambiguous if it's common knowledge?
Inconsistencies with their so called "Role play" : This whole so called scheme to make him realise what he has done relies on ridiculous principals, trusting a lunatic to roam free around the grounds with past violent tendancies as they say, interviewing other patients, when they would surely give up his identity to him, if he was Andrew, they are mental, how could you trust them not to? Withdrawal from his meds? BULLSHIT, that's such a lie, he had the migraines because they were giving him the drugs, the shaking too, pill withdrawal does not make you shake like that. Him on the boat? He could jump off and escape easily if he suddenly snapped out of it and realised who he was. No, no no no it makes no sense this plan, they don't do it for any of the other patients but him? HUH? Why? That makes no sense.
Teddy is innocent, they are trying to make him mad so he doesn't blow the lid off their operations (Also Nazis) think about Scorcesse, he is a master of film, it's too easy to just give away the ending with some BS explanations and monologues, think about it.
Also those empty rooms in the lighthouse were the lobotomy rooms, why else would they have them? The doc cleared them out before he arrived
-Also the guards are dressed like Nazis
-The cover of the DVD is Teddy holding a match (fire is truth)
-The main guard is Buffalo Bill ffs
-Teddy wakes up with Rachel, meaning it wasn't a dream or hallucination.
-Snow is memory.
-There are red herrings mixed with the truth and vice versa, but fire truth water lie helps prove which is which
They should put a warning before the film, do not watch the film if you are high. my mind just broke thinking about his story and I had to come watch this video to know the truth
ОтветитьRemarkable
