I just completed this specialization a week ago so here's my experience: it took me 4 months in total to complete semi-daily work along with documenting what I learnt plus tricks I found useful either in the specialization or random tip online, after completing this course alone I felt semi-complete mastery of excel as it doesn't cover some advanced array formulas it only gives you a start. when it comes to dynamic arrays were added later in excel 2019 so it's not covered, Plus It doesn't cover using power query yet it's covered in "Excel power tools for data analysis" (Haven't completed it yet) From the same author. I have got a file with all my studies, knowledge on this course plus little extras I got online, if anyone is interested I will be more than happy to offer. Great advice Sir! Excel was exactly the tool that began my path. Working in a Helpdesk, I needed to make better sense of an issue and send that analysis to leadership to effect change. That pushed me into an analyst style role very quickly.
Excel is an excellent first skill, as so many people can consume data with it and it can be the last mile of delivery of the data.

Luke, I have a big question about starting a carrier, My native is Sri Lanka. I wouldn't say I like to work as a Data analyst remotely in my country, I'm facing many problems here. I took the first course from MacQuarie U based on your recommendation!! I finished Excel Skills for Business: Essentials and now I’m starting Intermediate 1 course. It’s thorough and detailed and I’d recommend it highly -especially for beginners. I pushed through most of it bc it IS so detailed and I already knew 60-70%. BUT I pushed through bc it also continued teaching me functions and tools I didn’t actually know existed and that made much better sense.
