You can be free of zoning laws and all that other stuff and live frugally without making the whole area look like it was a nuclear test sight. Take those broken down campers and fix them up a bit. Maybe pick up all the scattered garbage and scraps that are littering the desert. You can do that and still be individuals, have your own style and live your own life. If the people here did that, you might influence others to do the same and perhaps we can have more areas with relaxed restrictions and limited government interference. Maybe we could make more public lands accessible for people to stay long term if people would take care of it.

we have our own slab city on the south side of Chicago. I lived there when I was a child. In the 50's and the 60's It's all vacant lots. empty ground now. All the homes are all long gone. Even the hospital is gone.

I’ve watched 8 of these videos so far…. What I see is that about 90 % of the people that live there are drug addicted, drunks and mentally ill people. wow…what a great place to live 😂

Just visited Slab City yesterday and ended up hanging out and talking with Dot for awhile. Really really great person by the way and her friend who joined us for a bit. She said they actually cleaned it up meaning all drug providers etc are out of there cause the law came in and did their thing. Its a very beautiful and friendly place and who doesn't get annoyed finding strangers staring or poking their heads in your private space which I don't think happens because everyone and everything is well organized meaning you can tell what's what and or private. Basically some bad apples gave them that rep and the Internet of course blew them up. It's a great place and filled with great people. Even got invited to stay for a party for the evening but we had a 4 hr drive back to Phoenix. Was definitely and well needed trip and journey. Thanks Dot...
