Redfall Is Underwhelming

I know this is on Gamepass, but there is a version selling for £100 😳 I don’t know what world the people behind that decision are living in, but the idea that this game could ever be worth that much money (even if it was finished and optimised - which it isn’t) is utterly laughable…very poor game.

Was this meant to be like Xbox’s big AAA game

Idk about you guys but I'm genuinely having fun on this game its refreshing to play a game about killing vampires as a looter shooter so who knows what the devs might have in stocks for us as gamers hopefully there's dlc though

The game is better on hard, but it is still too weak. They are bullet sponges on hard, but it'd be better if they had better tactics. Like do some vampire (stuff). That being said, this might be a better game if the roles were reversed and you played a vampire.

This feels like a game made for nobody.

If this game wasn't rated Mature, I'd wave it off as "baby's first Open-world Looter Shooter" given the lack of difficulty and depth. But the game is for adults, and it just doesn't seem like it's enough.

after about 3 hours of play time on the series s this game feels, looks and plays like a rushed Xbox one launch game at best.

The hallmark disappointment with Redfall ? It could have been awesome. I spent 45 min playing, didn't take long to realize it's bad design decisions and bugs galore. First 45 minutes of any game should be bliss. Not, ohh look ! The enemy AI didn't notice me walk in front of him, look at the AI over there ! 2 of them side by side treadmilling into the side of a cargo container. We that followed this game sine announcement got ripped off in regards to time and anticipation.

Tried to download it 2x on gamepass but it kept giving me errors. Guess I dodged a bullet of stink. Lol back to vampire survivors.

It's interesting to hear the comparisons to Deathloop. I'm never exactly clear on the degree of interaction between Arkane Lyon and Arkane Austin, but I try to keep them separate in my mind. So whatever one thought about Deathloop (Arkane Lyon), Redfall (Arkane Austin) should be judged on its own because it may have been built by a completely different team. Maybe that the comparison seems apt means there actually is a lot of interaction between the two. I hope there is reporting on what Arkane Lyon has been up to and how much involvement they had with Redfall.

There are two things I never want to read in association with Arcane and those are MULTIPLAYER and OPEN WORLD, all said, fuck MS

With all the bugs its more like they created the idea for this after Vampire Survivors made a shit load of money.

My one gripe is that I want to use ALL the abilities - thats part of the Arkane formula, isnt it? Acquiring crazy powers and experimenting. This is watered down because it has to cater to 4 separate characters. It could have been mitigated if I could at least swap characters through the campaign, but I think to play as someone else, you have to start a new game lol

Xbox absolutely hates their fans and people who have invested in their consoles. I'm pretty convinced of that.

I really wish they would have taken a different approach to this game. Something darker, more sinister à la 30 Days of Night. Now, that would have been cool to see...

This game feels like Doom

The number one thing in games is the “gameplay loop.” every 40-90 seconds something should always be happening to keep your attention. Redfall is just empty stretches of nothingness then only brief encounters with terrible AI enemies and poorly implement gameplay mechanics and UI. Easily one of the worst games to ever be released.

Always looked at Arcane as being one of the most imaginative and innovative studios so am really disappointed by this mundane 'game by numbers' offering. Thanks RPS for an honest review.

I deleted my Ganepass install of this. Time is precious and there are many more games I'd rather be playing

I've been enjoying Redfall for what it is. I don't think I'd pay $70 for it in its current state, but it's absolutely worth a play.

If you play with controller and are experiencing issues, change your "input response preset" to low and your sensitivity to 2.75.

I hope this can be rescued by patches

They should have made it that only silver bullets, stakes, UV, damaged vampires. You should have had to craft and scavenge silver to make silver bullets, have say garlic powder grenades or UV grenades maybe? I mean come on the could have watched first Blade and underworld films as there were tonnes of ideas there!

I figured this was going to flop but it makes me believe alot of these games coming soon are going to suck . I still have hope for zelda this month, lies of pi, armored core, basically from soft hasnt let me down yet. Thats about it for games, i dont like sports but the new fight night sounds good, and the new test drive. I just dont pre order anymore unless imma love it even if it sucks

My favorite part is when I was sneaking up on a guy yelling stuff from a megaphone... he stopped talking. Oh, his character model kept flailing his arms and shouting into it, but the dialogue cut out completely.

In a rage I shot a car. Saw an explosion effect i haven't seen since PS2 launch titles.

Uninstalled. What a letdown this console generation has been so far.

I almost can't believe this is a current Arkane game, everything looks so generic, and in terms of visuals it all looks so flat and uninspired. You could have fooled me by saying it's a xbox one or ps4 game. A really mediocre one..

I like how everyone thinks Deathloop was a great game. All of a sudden, this game blew just as much as Redfall does. The last good arcane game was prey.

the only character worth a dam to play is the dud with the electric spear. cuz all his abilities and ulti is actually useful. the healer girls is stupid cuz its a support character (c4, robot decoy and a heal area ulti), the purple umbrella girl is trash (not only the worst dialogue but her umbrella absorbs bullets which ur faster just shooting ppl, the elevator ability is a minor boost, the vampire boyfriend is lame and honestly takes too long to recharge), the emo raven guy gots some nice skills (however one of his skills is a raven that marks everyone nearby but all the upgrades for that raven causes it to do damage and attack ppl which if ur trying to play stealth which the Character was made for its stupid cuz ur ability essentially eliminates surprise attacks cuz everyone is alerted cuz u decided to out points in one od ur skills).

the electric guy is the best. his spear can stick to enemies and has a area of effect of electricity. his other ability is a teleporter that even allies can use once u jump. can jump back and forth. u can teleport higher than the umbrella girl. recharges fairly quick and his ulti is a like black light ability that turns the vamps in front of u into stone. he is the only character that u should be playing. then the raven dude. then maybe the robot chick if ur with friends and need someone as support. stay away from the umbrella chick.

This game is clearly unfinished and whoever forced it out the door needs to be fired, they've single handedly ruined the long term potential of this game and the xbox brand. If this game was given more time to cook, to work on AI, Loot, Abilities and the Empty space it could have been received much better.

I have always wondered who these developers get to test these games? And what these testers are saying that makes these games leave their testing phase in these states.

I agree that Deathloops combat isn't great. I don't know exactly what the problem is, but it just doesn't feel good to shoot a gun in that game.

idk how games manage to consistently have worse AI than the original DOOM 30 years later.

edit: Why do you guys act like Arkane is god's gift to gaming to begin with? None of their games are even that good. Just ok.

It's a shame really. Arkane kinda hit the mark with 'Dishonored,' however at this point they have to ask themselves are they working on the engine and gameplay as much as the 'story?' Again, story-telling is their mark, maybe just need to work a little more on the code. Haven't played the game, just based on what I think. Thank you.
