I had no idea how to approach any wedding concept, and because of your channel my fiance and I now have a working budget and some actual numbers for a guest list as well as some venues we can actually afford! It would be really nice if you had ideas on how to mash all the gendered shit together into something cohesive when we can't really fit into the Prescribed Roles 😭

The last one, I agree. Sure, listen to advice. But take it with a grain of salt and only take what applies to you. You don't "have to" do anything you don't want to do just because someone else is doing it. Be free from the "shoulds" of wedding planning. Rather, let your wedding be a reflection of who you are as a couple - even if that means moving away from high pressure trends or traditions that you two don't resonate with.

My oldest sister got her bridesmaids all leggings that said "bridesmaid" and one "maid of honor". Our other sister was the maid of honor. She only wears the leggings when she's working on her home renovations lol. I'm gonna give my bridesmaids the option of a small gift or me helping cover their expenses for the wedding. I'd like to do both, but our entire budget is $4-5k so it's not really feasable

I love your try on videos of bridesmaids dresses, would you think about doing a try on for affordable wedding dresses? Azazie and Jjs house will let you get like 3 dresses to try on and I think that’s what I’m going to do for my wedding, I’d love to hear your thoughts or even see you do a try on!

Omg I used to disagree with you on the inexperienced wedding officiant thing, and then I played violin at a wedding at a really fancy country club that the couple must have spent 10s of thousands of dollars on, and had their college roommate officiate… there were so many technical difficulties and the poor guy was SO awkward and, just, his vibe didn’t match the vibe of the rest of the event

Dying because my wedding next year will have plastic folding chairs, a dance floor in broad daylight, and my uncle is officiating 😆. It’s in a remote location so delivery fees for the nicer chairs are literally a thousand dollars, and my wedding is the week after the solstice so the sun won’t set until 10 pm. And my uncle is a teacher so I trust his public speaking abilities haha. I’ve been watching your videos for years though and have incorported SO much of your other advice!

Random thoughts as I wait for an appointment to show up. I only support chair covers if your chairs are plastic or pleather, something legs will stick to. Second, I agree long tablecloths look better, but short ones are easier to shove your legs under.
And a vid suggestion, that might only appeal to a very slight few. But a video for friend-weddings; the thing more people are doing now of a non-romantic wedding for platonic life partners. May be doing this with someone for finance and living purposes, and we don't want a proper wedding but would enjoy commemorating it in some way, and there's almost nothing out there even on the google for something like this. (Which isn't surprising because I know it's not common. But if you're looking for something outside the box).
Lastly, and maybe you have this and I missed it, but ways to make weddings easier if you're a plus-size bride or plus-size member of the bridal party. Went to my sil's wedding, and had to try dresses on in like an 8 when I needed an 18, and even though people were nice it was still humiliating.

You're right Jaime. I didn't ask for this. But i NEEDED to know some of this. Thank you for always keeping us in the know. When i start really planning my date, i will absolutely study all your courses and the master plan to plan my day.

For my bridesmaids I had them choose a floral pattern and got a robe for each of them that we wore while getting ready my bridesmaids still use them. Guest favors were a cookie in the shape of our state with a little heart over the city we got married in.

My wedding was between 5-6k. I loved my wedding and look back at it fondly despite my divorce.

Also stickers need heat guns to take off easily

my friend had wine glasses as wedding favors, she also hired a glass engraver on-site to personalize engravings to whatever each guest wants it to be! I use these glasses all the time, and fondly brings back memories from her wedding whenever I hold them. These are not budget favors of course, but so much more cherished than anything labelled with someone else's wedding date.

"The video nobody asked for" no no I am nervous and worried about annoying people even people I have hired to provide a service so I like to know what not to do ahead of time.

I think the advice about renting nicer chairs is a bit out of touch......... Jamie said "it's really not that expensive to go get different ones". I live in Minnesota and one of the cheaper places I found for chair rentals was $8.50 per chair to rent! Thats over $1,000 if you have a 150 guest count! and that price wasn't even for a fancy chair! It was for a step above the plastic ones. Maybe in other places it's cheaper, but for brides truly on a budget, that is a lot of money when there is a free option already offered by the venue that works just fine. Other than that, and the table cloth advice that contradicted itself, the rest of the advice was great! Especially about the monogrammed stuff.

Im having my future brother in law do our wedding. Its his 4th time and hes an actor so fully trust him. I did it for my cousin and i over prepared lol but i did awesome.. my cousin had the grooms brother do it, he forgot to have people sit lol cousins wedding the officiant forgot to actually marry them lol the bride laughed looked at him and told him that they were skipping some parts lol 😆 😂

I have an unrelated question that maybe someone would be willing to throw an opinion at - what should you do if you as the wedding couple and your wedding guests aren’t really people that are into dancing?? It’s a default part of the activities it seems at all weddings where I am, but are there reasonable/normalized alternatives anyone has seen?

Been married for almost 6 years, did I just psychoanalyze my wedding….yes, yes I did! I will say though that with everything, venue, church, food, dress, hotel rooms, decorations, honeymoon, etc. we spent a total of $15k. We budgeted hard!!

Ok, the one thing my fiancé and I have disagreed on is the chairs. We live in the Bay Area, and chair rentals here are $14 and up. Our venue offers the Chiavari chairs for $7 each, so about $350-700. He has said absolutely not - we’re covering metal folding chairs. Period. So guess what I have in my Amazon cart? 😊

Agree about the officiant. My daughter’s best friend had a drunk woman wearing flip flops who may have been drunk or malicious. It was so cringey. She was the owner of the venue and mad because her assistant gave the bride a date change due to Covid.

I’m not married. I do agree that aesthetically long tablecloths look SO much better. However I hate sitting at those tables because my legs get tangled in the cloth and I feel so uncomfortable and like I’m going to destroy the whole table by accident.

If my dance floor is in broad daylight I will be a bridezilla!
