Once the AI and robotics becomes mainstream, they will release the real pandemic and leave about 10% of us as servants.

Is it still worth it to learn how to code?.

I'm currently trying to learn how to code using Python and i'm just worried that it will be for nothing.

Programming progress for humans has its limitations. Deep blue is in people's hands now and it will only flatten man's attempts and lightning speed. Symbiosis between the ai interface and man is also a shortcoming as AI will teach itself to multiply its superior lightning fast knowledge....many men will be obsolete very soon. AI will be street cameras. AI will be cyber machines policing humans within their lockdown cities. AI will drop off Amazon goods form ai drones. AI is George Orwell society. The internet of things needs to be destroyed at every cost for our survival.

Lots of work is domain specific tho; less of "create a new site" and more of a "implement a new feature into a domain specific solution". GPT is useful, but unless it's allowed to analyse a current solution, it's very likely to get things wrong when creating more complex tasks - requiring someone to fix the errors. Even then, there will still be blind sports.
Allowing that kind of system access is no small order, especially with Schrems II still ongoing. You have practically no idea what the Ai is doing - OpenAi could only make promises to lul the fear - as they really don't know either. As it stands, there's simply no way our security department would greenlight something like that.

there's a reason why NVidia keeps building bigger and bigger servers. There is a physical limit to scaling GPT, but we don't know what it is yet. As long as electricity is cheap, FAANG will keep burning juice to train bigger and bigger models.

IMO AI is probably moving so fast because we're at that point now where AI is assisting in developing itself. OpenAI and Microsoft have already admitted to this as well (in the sense that they're using GPT4 or perhaps something more powerful behind the scenes).

Wild times we're living in, and wilder times ahead.

This will all break donw in 30 years when the old dogs that design, operate, maintain this will go wawy.. and there will be no new ones to replace, because all we will have left will be plumbers, hairdressers, cooks, dancers etc... nobody will start learning code from scratch when there is no demand and everythink is automated...

Remember days when we were saying that Programmers and other creative jobs won't be replaced by machines no matter what :) And look where we are now. Honestly only one who should be scared of this technology are developer creating very basic HTML templates that can be automated. But as a Software Engineer for quite big corporate I can tell you that clients don't know what they want and what they need. It is process, talking to them, creating user case scenarios, communicating with team and of course lot of bureaucracy, managing tickets, deployments and so on. So lot of unknowns and processes for AI to figure this all out. For me it's just another tool, yes you should start learning it because it will dominate most of modern jobs. But until you do your job with passion and you are at least moving forward and learning some new stuff from time to time then I think we are save for now. Some jobs will disappear and some new ones will be born. So don't worry.

However, this capability was introduced by Microsoft few years ago and now it is moved to ChatGPT as a logical brilliant integration.

Its cool but devs are still safe.

When the AI can make my PO actually communicate the correct requirements from management and turn that data warehouse we have integrated with our customer portal but also have it fitted to the onboarding portal that has a completely different model that has to be adjusted for and underlying code changed.

You see where i'm going?

Being a developer has very little to do with coding, all good developers know that.

What’s the surprise here? White collar jobs are basically knowledge based and the AI has access to the largest resource of knowledge the internet, and almost permanent photographic memory to remember it. It’s devoid of fatigue, boredom and sleep.

Thank you for bringing up the seriousness of the situation. I think people are delusional laughing at AI, and it's coping.
I just was reading about revolutionary new species appearing, and it always seems funny, clumsy at start.
For example, humans survived and evolved simply because other animals didn't consider them dangerous, as humans are pretty weak physically.
Yet, AI doesn't seem funny even now.
What I find startling is that it will never stop developing. Humans need new generations each time, losing their long-acquired mental, memory and skill abilities.
This thing just goes on and on. It will surpass 120 IQ level, then 160 and then humans realize they can't compete with that, but rather learn from it.
One moment we will realize we are dumb, as all the tools we have developed are better than we are in some regards. I just barely see a place for a human in the future, at least in its present from.
I just hope AI will help reduce the pain for humans, finding cures, amplifying human abilities and happiness.
