"The Argos glory years and fighting the Atlanteans are long gone. The once small kingdom began as a small fishing settlement with tribes of cattle breeders and herders. In those days they employed Nahari mercenaries as guards because they had no regular army. Many years of oppression by sea raiders united these tribes, and by the time Castor (Bellovesus) became ruler, he founded the Kingdom of Argos. He reorganized the army into heavy infantry units such as hoplites.
However, Argos, with growing population, were dependent on importing grain from the Tharkan Empire or the Vulteran city-states.
In return, they exported their marine resources, painted potery, and the copper they mined in the northern mountains."
