Wavysail Free sailing tutorials - How to obtain a visual fix and plot a course

In this video Wavy shows you how to plot a course, using dead reckoning, taking account of leeway, the pitfalls of GPS and different sorts of ways to obtain a visual fix, including a 3 point fix, transit and following depth contours.

Wavy Immelman hosts a 10-week series of free sailing lectures, introducing sailing theory for anyone learning to sail, or thinking of getting into sailing. Originally for the crew of the Clipper Round the world race, this series of sailing lectures is a free sailing course introduction to anyone wanting to become a more competent sailor, perhaps before starting out on a qualification such as the RYA day Skipper.

Who is Wavy?
Wavy Immelman is an experienced RYA instructor with more than 500,000miles of Ocean sailing and Racing experience. He was a skipper on the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. He instructs day skipper, yachtmaster including celestial navigation and has been sailing for more than 30 years!
