That looks like the same DeWalt impact driver I use, where's your Milwaukee?
ОтветитьBeen binge watchin your content man much appreciated your solid work and great attitude. Been a game changer.
ОтветитьI pretty much install em the exact same way you do. I've tried building them on the ground but it's annoying. Much heavier that way and you have to try to work btw the blades which is a pain w those tiny ass canopy screws
ОтветитьVery educated video
Thank you
Don't the wires need to either be run through bored holes or along a catwalk?
ОтветитьI’ve used same tiny buck knife since 03.
ОтветитьMy favorite ceiling fan rated box is the saddle fan boxes.
ОтветитьI know this is unrelated to the video, but I’d like your thoughts on how in the world to get into the electrician trade when no one will take a new apprentice?
ОтветитьDo you guys ever worry about silica dust or asbestos when dealing with service work or being around guys cutting concrete who dont care?
ОтветитьThey need to put something on the bar to easily make the box stick out a half inch. Why its on the box ile never get it
ОтветитьCan i just use the same bracket that the old non fan rated box was on. Those pretty common on new builds
ОтветитьIt's funny how our brains work sometimes. When I saw the title of this video I thought it was your viewers rating power boxes they've used. It never occurred to me that you were talking about Ceiling Fans so I never bothered to watch this video until I watched the short.
ОтветитьNeed a Video from ya for Doing a Pipe Rack!!
Ответить2 feet 3 quarter brother☝🏼
ОтветитьSo they don't do plastic boxes for old work? For me old work installation is about 95% of time...
ОтветитьI’m definitely liking the ceiling fan rated smart boxes by Southwire, especially when doing retrofits
ОтветитьOld school and would never use a blue light special plastic box anywhere but low voltage. Only carried metal & fiberglass boxes in my van because they have a much better fire rating and only type allowed in some commercial work.
ОтветитьI usually add some blocking to the box even with the adjustable brackets. I’ve used plastic, fiberglass, and metal boxes and always add more support if I feel it needs it. 😊
ОтветитьI was a journeyman industrial electrician and maintenance manager later. Not packing tools was something that drove me crazy. I was constantly having to get after my guys about this. I’m not sure why it was an issue. As a millwright I had a tool belt with all the basic tools and I wore it all the time and it only came off during breaks. Same thing as an electrician. 😊
ОтветитьI'll stick with metal boxes to support a fan. No way I'll trust plastic for that.
ОтветитьFor old work I like the type that expands between the studs. 😕 It wasn’t a deliberate test but I can tell you that the bar is capable of holding 180 lbs.
ОтветитьI honestly hate plastic boxes. The only ones I like are those remodel boxes with the tabs because they can really bail you out of a jam when you need to add a box without doing drywall work. But if the wall or ceiling is open using metal is the same amount of work, they’re stronger, the threads are less delicate, and then when replacing the drywall you can use a zip tool along the sides of the box without chewing up the box like you do on a plastic box. I get it the plastic is marginally cheaper, but to each their own I guess.
ОтветитьLoved the video Dustin! Big fan!
ОтветитьI want an instructional on how to use the weights to balance a wobbly fan.
ОтветитьOne of my pet peeves is coming along later to change out a fan and finding only 12/2 from the switch to the unit instead of 12/3. Very common to later want separate controls at the switch and fishing new wire later in finished walls and ceilings is annoying.
ОтветитьAn interesting video would be how to wire a light/fan (with remote) so the light is only controlled by a wall switch, but the fan is still operated by the remote.
ОтветитьYa know, Jeff Thorman would have assembled, AND installed that fan with his impact driver, LOL. The man is an insane genius, but like you, the hero we all need! thank you, Dustin, sir.
ОтветитьI hate these new type of fans.... Just give me a good old school fan with pull cords. Those modules are such a pain to fit in.
Ответитьman i missed so many crucial things and problems that I’ve ran into in the past while hanging up ceiling fans that you thought in this video thank you so much.
Ответитьlmao no
ОтветитьI like to run wire loops for the same reasons you mentioned but also incase the Sheetrock guys accidentally zip our wires and I can cut the damaged wire and pull down the slack. Also, I learned recently you have to use a spreader fan rated box on sloped ceilings instead of a nail on. Reason being the mounting bracket that holds the ball joint has to sit a certain way. I wonder why they don’t make fan rated boxes with screws on all four sides instead of two.
ОтветитьBuild on the ceiling one piece at a time👍
ОтветитьWhen it said Hunter on the box I cried a little inside.
ОтветитьDustin love your videos but breaking the integral box clamp and sheetrock / drywall screws? I personally prefer the metal ceiling fan boxes, I've seen plastic boxes that have become brittle for whatever reason I guess over time that even a simple light swap all of the sudden breaks the screw holder and now you need to replace the box, however I like that these actually attach the fan bracket to the bar bracket though that bar still looks like a normal light bracket box not as heavy gauge as ceiling fan box. Also on that note I feel the weatherproof boxes you can't win because the plastic breaks especially the screw tabs, and the metal cast zinc whatever it is messes with the WR devices in that the stainless steel screws gall and break. It's like either way your destined to replace the box when it comes to outdoor.
ОтветитьI recently installed a fan in my home office with attic access however the air handler sits right above where the fan goes. I used one of the expanding steel bars with metal box; amazing how well it works.
Ответить24.75 inches is half of 49.5 inches
ОтветитьI find that the fan blades can get in the way if you install them before hanging the motor housing, etc.
Ответитьdo a video on occ sensor/powerpack wiring
ОтветитьWhenever I install Ceiling Fan Boxes, I always use metal boxes screwed to a 2x4 or 2x6 blocking that is screwed or nailed with a framing nailer between the ceiling joists ! The House may fall down , but not the fans !!
