An interesting discussion but what jumped out at me was the idea that we need more young people for a healthy economy in order that we have enough money to tackle climate change. We know how to tackle climate change - stop burning fossil fuels. If there were fewer people on this planet we would be emitting less CO2 and other greenhouse gases.

Its interesting that a lot if this discussion focused on how humanity could and probably will adapt to address falling burthrates through innovation. The same is true if we accept declinibg birthrates and population. Economies will conract and populations will shift, but they will not cpllapse overall. An earth with falling population would be better yhan continuing to overpopulate the world with all its negatives.

I have heard Tim Pool make that claim that Progressivism is doomed because Conservatives have kids and Lefties don't, but that never made sense to me. Pretty much every Lefty had Conservative parents and that didn't stop them from becoming Lefties.
I always assumed it is probably Tim Pool's Asian half talking, which considers it normal that kids will adopt their parent's value system and politics, but it is quite obvious that that is not how it works with Caucasians and other groups.
