Tsui Hark's Once Upon A Time in China movies are some of my all time favorites but like you, I think in later years he has been disappointing. I hope he can make a comeback with The Great Hero, which I hear is focused on The Battle of Xiangyang. Fans of Legend of the Condor Heroes will know Guo Jing and Huang Rong spent a lifetime defending Xiangyang but it is a fact of history what happens there. I think it'd be very interesting if the movie is about the late part of their story that has never been made and even Jin Yong himself only mentions in passing in the sequel Return of the Condor Heroes. But considering Sabrina Zhuang is too young to play an older Huang Rong, my guess is he is only going to focus on those parts of the novel where they successfully repel Genghis Khan. That part is not new nor is it is something I am dragging my butt to the movie theater to watch on the first day of The Lunar New Year. I can wait for the online release.

I'm excited about Tsui Hark's movie! I was such a fan of the old HK TVB dramas and HK movies. Like you, I want more characterization and less CGI.
I'm also interested in both Yang Yang dramas coming up. They're male-centric so it'll be change in my palette for this year. Cheers to you, have a good week ahead!

Legend of condo heros entirely depends on Tsui Hark's boxoffice appeal. Even the short intro trailer has his strong flavour which attracts real movie lovers instantly. As long as it has less cgi and more wire works, it will be a hit

I never heard of those golden rooster winning dramas.

My first chinese drama I watched was LBDAF (watched at least 3 times) with amazing chemistry between the main characters. LGIEF is a big positive surprise and for me the drama of the year (also on repeat). Excellent acting, very emotional scenes and finally an acting partner with whom Ester Yu can shine (this was not the case with Xu Kai and Zhang Linghe).
The drama has its flaws and that is some too slow scenes and dialogues in the 2nd part, as well as the unnecessarily complicated penultimate scene, but for me the ending was perfect with a wonderful message at the end.
I don't need someone to draw me a happy ending, the story is well enough made that one can clearly imagine it.
Certainly people will love or hate the ending because it is definitely not typical one, but for me is well done.

Smile Code is very good, both lead characters are so well played and likeable, I loved!

In novel Gina Gin nangoong wan char rarely show up cause she rarely together with Han li (YangYang). The story focus on Han Li Adventures and not about love life.

Is Daylight Entertainment the only 1 w good track record of producing good shows?

Wow, even though Fangs of Fortune didn’t have the large budget and sock puppets of Pearl Girl and LGiEF, it still came in 3rd!!! IQIYI even paused releasing episodes for 2 days. This just goes to show that word-of-mouth was super strong for that drama.

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy is such a boring Drama, I felt sad for Ester Yu as I consider her such a great actress in China, her last Drama My Journey To You was a great production and a wonderful performance from her. I feel this like fantasy dramas are below her, the story goes nowhere, it´s boring. Def The Story of Pearl Girl is much much better this time.

I love all the top 3 FOF, TSOP and LGIEF. I really want to see Romance in the Alley.
