Okay, The Amex Delta Platinum Card Is Way BETTER Than I Thought

Nice video Anthony. I see the value of the Delta Platinum but for me living here in Miami as an AA hub does not fit my travels.

I’ve carried the Delta Platinum for two years, it’s a solid card and the companion certificate is nice. Only gripe is that there’s no longer an option for lounge access, and the Reserve card is a terrible earner and not nearly worth it. Overall, I’m satisfied thus far, but will probably look for a retention offer come next renewal cycle.

I have had this card since 2010, back then the annual fee was $130. This has paid me every year to keep it. I put next to no spend on it, but I keep it for the companion pass which I always get value from. Amazing card for delta flyers

I've been saying this for a long time. The Delta Platinum is a great card that's so many good benefits that makes it viable as long as you can use the companion pass.
It's so good it could be a decent one and done card.

Great video! I just completed the sign-up bonus on the platinum business. I recommend the business version, as it is the same annual fee and you get $50 more for the delta stays credit. The resy credit can also be used for resy restaurants that use toasttab in the restaurant and to sell stuff on their website. I just buy a $10 gift card online each month (reloading the same one) without needing to go to the restaurant to get the $10 resy credit each month. I also use the rideshare - uber eats credit trick with the family account another person said, and it works nicely to get food when I don't use rideshares. Definitely a powerful and underrated card!

After having the Delta Platinum for almost a Year now, It is the best Delta Card.

I just picked up the business version...got a 100k SUB and the hotel credit is $200. There's a great Resy restaurant close to my office. I just go in once per month during happy hour to get a quick free drink!

Great tip on buy Resy Restaurant gift cards. TBH, the only reason I’d get the Delta GOLD is due to family language & I don’t wanna leave SUBs on the table. Then again since the GOLD has no fee, I could get the platinum months later and hold both. The $2500 MQD headstart is huge along with all the other value the Delta Platinum holds.

If you book on the delta page for the $150 stay credit example book on a Hyatt or Hilton can you put your member number to get the points?

In my opinion, the main draw of this card is the companion certificate. But that’s restrictive, and can’t be used if you’re going to Canada as an example. Also, it makes you pay for one ticket, which is more expensive than using points. So if you are unsure of the value of the companion certificate, I think delta gold is still a solid pick. Very easy to get $100 back from the hotel booking, and it also offers free bag, TSA/ global entry and take off 15 benefits. No more hassle needed to fight back your annual fees by uber/lyft/resy acrobatics ..

I have both the Gold and Platinum achieving the welcome offer for both recently

That Delta plat is cool but it is not plucking with the Amex Gold with food
2 mile vs 4 Amex points, Not to mention the other food credits

The reserve is nice but the platinum is the way to go in my opinion.

I got the Business version of this card and the Business Delta Gold and Reserve card. I paid 1,000 in annual fees but I’m getting a total of 1,200 in hotels credit this and next year plus the Resy credits and I earned 350,000 miles.

If you buy a flight a year for two people on Delta - this is a no-brainer keeper card. Using the companion certificate, I just got a $580 round-trip cross-country flight for $11.60. It gets better because I could upgrade both seats to 1st class using platinum status upgrade certs.

The upgrade part is killer - but I'd get the lifetime SUB for the Plat before upgrading.

I just got the delta business Gold this mth, so ill be keeping it for awhile. Maybe in the future, I receive an upgrade offer I’ll consider the delta plat, but for now i like $150 AF of the gold. 👍🏽

Wow really interesting point in terms of if you do have a trip coming up, could be worth upgrading the Gold to the Plat to get the Companion Certificate right away. Interesting perspective too in basically getting an "extra" Delta Companion Cert. in a way and whether that value would outpace what an upgrade offer would look like. Great video Anthony!

like my Delta gold business card! but timely video as I am debating of what I will get added to my wallet when I cancel my Hilton biz card soon. Debating on the Delta card and then eventually cancel the gold and can downgrade the platinum later. Other option with the 1 open Amex credit card spot could be Hilton personal base card if they have a good offer (like a free night cert) that can be upgraded to a surpass or aspire later.

I just upgraded my delta gold to platinum. The companion certificate, uber credits, status, also hertz upgrade, hotel credit all seem to be a bonus well worth the extra 200 dollars over the 150 I was paying for gold which I was also getting value from. I think this new platinum card is a definite upgrade if you value the Gold.

The only downside to this card is that the companion pass has restricted far types (main cabin, yes, but make sure to check which letters of main cabin in the parentheses). It tends to exclude the “best” flights for any given day (based on times, layover, etc).
Other than that, the card is really excellent value for someone who travels with a player 2.

Definitely worth it if you travel with someone at least once a year especially since they extended the companion certificate to the Caribbean and Central America I used to use it to go to Florida but this year I used it to go to Panama

this card gives 3x miles for Delta flights. As a skymiles member, I get 5 miles per dollar spent on Delta flights. Does it stack with the 3X miles if I use my card to buy Delta flights?

Funny. Just now went from Platinum to Gold. I had to downgrade because I couldn't use the companion ticket when I needed to. On the majority of my travel dates, companion tickets are not available.

Im wondering if you do the upgrade from Gold to Platinum , when do they charge you the 350 ? Upon upgrade or when Gold fee was supposed to be renewed

The upgrade hack is only possible from the gold as you near year two approaching year three?

Had the Reserve & it was actually far above & beyond my least favorite credit card ever. The point system is slow to achieve miles. I have the Platinum & Gold AMEX which rack up points far & beyond - the benefits are beyond better & more protection when traveling.

I got a targeted offer for upgrade from my gold as I come up on my one year renewal. I debated if it is worth it but if I can get the resy gift card hack and Lyft cash hack to work this is a great option.

Who says miles are useless? Getting a free flight is always a good thing.

I don't think this works. when I log into AMEX it has an upgrade button from gold to platinum and it only gives 10K bonus miles...
