I had scammers who got me for a min saying they were the FBI. The call woke me up and i was groggy and they sucked me in. It took a min to figure out what was going on. So always be on gaurd.
Ответитьone time a scammer texted me asking to "buy my house" in ohio (i do not have a house and i have never been to ohio). so i said yeah it's my house what's up, and as we went back and forth i just kinda bullshitted a story about how my wife had left me a few months ago and i was a real mess, i think my characters name was randy but idk if i ever actually mentioned that to the scammer. Anyway after a few hours he says "well we have plenty of mail order brides here in kazhakhastan. Shit i'd marry you for citizenship." I told him it's trash here and citizenship is not as good as it sounds but mentioned a few good places for new immigrants to move and wished him luck. good sport hope he needed the money and doesn't anymore.
ОтветитьThis is actually one of my favourite videos from your channel, I am really glad you made it even though you said it was a weird one.
ОтветитьI don't have any empathy for scammers.
ОтветитьThe end isn't that deep. All Webcam examples are with girls. They want wank bank material.
Ответитьi changed my phone plan to put my mom on it and mark it as s seniors phone line. since then i get 1 to 15 calls daily from scammers. mostly Medicare and insurance scams. i am horrible to these people and i dont feel bad about it. i dont mentally put them in the same box as tech support
ОтветитьAs an Indian i couldn't help but feel some national shame when I watched a scambait... Not that I want to protect the scammer.... Though my partner (also Indian) watches a lot of it (she is able to be raceblind I guess)
ОтветитьTUCAN SPECIAL
Ответить🤖 figure it out later
ОтветитьMore recent Jim Browning video changed my mind about the whole “these people may be desperate” angle. Yes they might be but it’s also just about as likely they are going to be using it to literally give hard drugs to children like in that video. At the end of the day, I cannot know what the money is going to, so why even bother thinking about that factor? All that’s then left is that they are doing a morally bad thing, and I have no clue if they are doing anything good or bad with the profit, thus to me I feel fine in unequivocally saying “fuck em.”
Note it’s not really what your video is about but I see a lot of people in the comments talking about this
I think it's worth noting that many of the scam callers are in fact not acting individually. Rather, they're getting paid in the same way as those legitimate customer support call centers. Additionally, scammers are sometimes being given their script in the exact way you describe legit ones, with a corporate hierarchy. General 'scam-centers' have been a thing for ages and, though bots are easily taking much of the market, they will probably continue to be.
ОтветитьProps to mothcub on the expression there at the end, haha! I hope mothcub is doing okay.
ОтветитьI feel bad about Indian support center workers. Talked to one and he had an apology scripted 3 times and I just wanted a refund for a delivery, I felt bad hearing him apologize for something he's never responsible for. Just goes to show no matter where, customer services often really suck.
ОтветитьSuggesting that anyone is immune to scams, or even just a type of scam, is dangerous. Thinking you're immune is a good way to let your guard down. There will always be new ways to scam people. Also consider that people are in different mental states -- my ability to spot and deal with a scammer when I'm trying to figure out an issue with my phone bill will be greatly reduced if my mother just passed away.
ОтветитьKitgoba?
Ответитьbig joel calling kitboga "kitgoba" the whole video was immediately made up for by showing a bit of jim browning. jim and kit are two class acts in the scambaiting community. kit explains the steps of the scam to the people watching the stream as he goes, and jim's whole thing is hacking into the scammers' system so that he can contact the victims and stop them from following the directions of the scammer. one time he pretended to be a victim's grandson and he called the scammer and grilled him for like fifteen minutes.
ОтветитьThe artwork in this video is fucking phenomenal
ОтветитьBig Joel, you never added the sources for this video!
ОтветитьI’m as left as left can be and I still think this is some scam cuck shit
Ответитьhow many times are you going to say "kitgoba" in this video. It's kitboga. Maybe try reading it some time instead of watching the drama in your own head
ОтветитьI wasn't scared until he said "they might want too".
ОтветитьWAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT SCAMMERS ARENT TECH SUPPORT ?!?!?!?!
ОтветитьThis video made me want to call a support centre and waste company time chatting with a person on the other end of the line
Ответитьi like atomic shrimp. his videos are via email correspondence, so i don't get anxious watching them. He also isn't mean.
ОтветитьHaving worked a drive through, barring technical difficulties, the person taking your order CAN SEE YOU. It’s needed so you know if someone is actually at the order box with their window down. It’s a thing I had never thought about before, and it’s a weird kind of power to be serving someone but able to see them in a one way video call
ОтветитьThose American western names is a crime to begin with
ОтветитьI think it's a shame you didn't bring up what I think is the most tragic and important part of it all. Ultimately, in a lot of cases scammers aren't really acting of their own volition. They're people who have few options but who still need to eat. In some cases they're not just figuratively enslaved by capitalism, they're literally being enslaved for their work (they are offered a lucrative job before being locked in a room and being forced to scam money out of people).
It's a bit like persecution of prostitution in a way. (Ignoring the area of sex work we might call genuinely consensual for a moment here.) A horrific act has been done by either the forces of capital or a gang of traffickers, and certain people would say that shows a moral failing on their part and they should be punished for it.
Because of this, I've never watched one of these videos. The concept is inherently repulsive to me.
Pajeet elegy: wherein Joel over intellectualizes and glosses over the clear antagonism of scammers because they are generally from the "global south"
Need to come up with a pithier title
Wildly different video if you focused on Jim Browning instead of Kitboga. There is a grand sense of malevolence from scammers when they actually find marks to be predatory on.
ОтветитьDesspite all their fault, we have to know that the actually evil (which arent evil due to their own faults) scammers are in the minority. Most simply just have no better alternative, because, yeah.
Capitalism.
This man can take a trip to the grocery store and explain to me why it's a type of art and it should be appreciated and enjoyed
ОтветитьWhy did you tell me to imagine it was a play
ОтветитьGreat video. Only he beginning I think you should of also condemned Hamas.
Ответитьthis is a minor point, but I have had real microsoft customer support take over my screen before. it does happen and it's ok, it's great for tech support when done properly.
Ответитьits interesting watching this now considering, at least for kitboga, the culture of it is so much more different. i think part of that is due to the increased amount of countries that scammers are calling from now, with american and european scammers becoming so much more prolific. kitboga also is very on top with denouncing the racism and prejudice that can come from his audience and is directly combative with chat members leaving hateful messages
ОтветитьJoel is fucking amazing. This video is amazing
ОтветитьThe general way this video is structured really reminded me of something my mother said to me at the dinner table once. "You can really segue from any topic into anti-capitalism, can't you?" Incidentally, we were talking about a scam call she received earlier. That coversation didn't go into the exact same direction as this video does, but it's still a big coincidence.
And well yeah, it is really easy once you've opened up your perspective to that. The video shows that.
man this video sucked
ОтветитьA wonderful, sad essay.
ОтветитьI do theatre studies and some people might think it sounds useless but we also learn basically what you are doing to see social situations and problems though a theatre or performance perspective, its really interesting
ОтветитьCan't wait for the sources in a -1562 days or - 1563 days
ОтветитьKitgoba?
