I was working in Palo Alto when a coworker of mine won two tickets through a radio program. We watched the film at a local cinema either Wednesday or Thursday after work! I will never forget the sadness I felt when Naomi's character realized the woman she loved was going to marry a Hollywood director! Great acting, atmosphere, cinematography and music! Loved the chemistry between Naomi and Laura.

Laura Harring, a Mexican actress makes that movie, without her it would not have been as interesting. Lynch knew exactly how to direct and light her for full affect.

This was so cool to watch. Lynch seemed surprisingly upbeat and friendly, kind to the actors, etc. lol. I guess I think of the more stereotypical "auteur" director who demands a lot and is a jerk. So he breaks the stereotype. He's nice and still comes out with amazing stuff, he has such a precise vision. This is one of my favorite movies, probably within my top three. Not sure what the other two are, but I know at least that this one is consistently there. Does that make it my favorite? lol

I just rented this movie for the first time, I can’t wait to see it.
Man, Naomi seems so insecure. There’s something strangely comforting in that. I watched an interview with them about this film and she apparently had a horrible time getting roles and David kind of discovered her. Life is strange.

I'll never forget the first time i watched this film, i was in awe. The way lynch can capture surreal and unconscious feelings with what are seemingly random and bizarre events is truly magical. When he's good, like in this and Twin Peaks, he's truly sui generis. The man is a genius. We forgive Dune. :)

So David Lynch is actually not okay with being filmed when he's talking to the actors?

Would this movie be as special if it were shot in “digital”? No way. Suspension of disbelief is impossible while watching hyper-realistic digital video. So disappointed by “Inland Empire”. The spiritual movie experience enjoyed by countless generations has now become extinct as a trade off for modern convenience for the “film makers”. Or should I say the “fully automated video file button pressers”.
How sickening to think that masters of the film art would embrace the lowest common denominator for convenience.

I really enjoy these glimpses into making a movie. It's all us non-film folks have to see what really goes on, man it seems so hectic out there. Constant movement. And yet the end product you don't see any of it, it's pretty remarkable. A million moving parts all to get a perfect shot.
