Excellent description of the science in speaker performance
Ответитьi notice this when im 12
ОтветитьGreat video!!!! Thanks a lot !!!
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьHow would
This affect a tweeter in a 2 way bookshelf
It’ll probably sound out of phase, like the way you can wire a guitar phase switch. It’ll sound less bassy, more compressed and slightly “warbly”.
ОтветитьGreat yet simplified explanation of the topic, great video, thanks for sharing it!!
ОтветитьI had headphones on but.. I didnt really hear anything awful when he played the example of both L and R one correct and one inverted polarity...
ОтветитьWhen you apply positive voltage in the frequency range of interest the driver will move inwards, not outwards, which will give a positive pressure. This is highly misunderstood by even seasoned acoustic engineers. You can search my interviews with ErinsAudioCorner.
ОтветитьHow about when setting up a stage for a performer with monitors for the musicians, if the monitors on stage a facing directly rearwards, why not wire those inversely so that the overall wave movement is coordinated in the room as opposed to working against each other causing a dead zone in the area between the back side of the audience speakers and the back side of the monitors?
ОтветитьThanks to you now i know what happen to my car audio. The installer wired the rear left channel to a different polarity.
ОтветитьOk but how do I know which is positive or negative when both wires have a positive charge?
ОтветитьWhat if we do it only in our mid sets of speakers?
Will it affect the bass from subs?
Why do VE Commodore speaker wires FAIL..
Ответитьi don't hear the difference with headphones.
ОтветитьAwesome explanation
ОтветитьExcelent video! thanks for the help! regards.
ОтветитьFabulous info given by you sir...many thanks...your channel is a textbook of audio engineering...HIGHLY APPRECIATED..
ОтветитьI have one tower speaker but I can't seem to make it sound right
ОтветитьPolarity is the one thing in audio I simply can't hear. I noticed nothing in either example.
I've heard people say "switch the phase on your bass DI and you'll notice a huge difference!". No... no I don't
Idk if you Check this but without my speaker hooked up my polarity from the amp is reversed or appears so. When pos on neg neg on pos I get -voltage
ОтветитьI thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. Ultra professional. My Heat Light and Sound physics professor could learn from the clarity here !
ОтветитьThe normal polarity sounds like the drum is going away from ear and punchy. Reverse sounded fuller more resonance on the drum and the sound was actually going in my ears creating a more realistic engulfing experience
ОтветитьOnly thing you didn't touch on was if reverse polarity damages your speakers .
ОтветитьMake very well. Easy to understand.
ОтветитьWith high volumes , it matters alot!! The sound gets distorted.
ОтветитьWhat if i have 1 speaker and connect it to +to+ output/Subwofer and to right channel is it Ok?
Thank you. Really helpful why my speaker does not play vocals of songs .
ОтветитьDidn’t hear the difference with two speakers 🔊 😅
ОтветитьDistance from speaker (s) also affects canceling or other effects. If you are not standing exactly between the two speakers, some canceling always occurs, but luckily the random aspects of multiple waves on top of each other makes us not notice. Perhaps you were simplifying to help people understand.
ОтветитьHow check amplifier polarity?
ОтветитьI was skeptical on this but having experimented with my setup the facts are undisputable. Eg, using a sound meter app, playing music with mismatched polarity 40db, same music matched polarity 47db and sounding much more bassy. This isn't just for audiophiles 👍
ОтветитьHere is a question I have: I have to older vintage ADS speakers and the back terminals have neither positive or negative (red nor black) indicators. How do I know which to connect my speaker wires too?
ОтветитьIn an audio strereo deck when there are two separate ports(each having two terminals) made for each speaker, does any significant change occur for wrong polarity connection unless multiple speakers are connected on a single channel? I am asking this since there are audio cables available in the market with no defined polarity
Ответитьi have my 6.5inc speakers wired positive to positive and negative to negative my subwoofer the same but then inverted 180 degrees(from, headunit) so it sounds better.
ОтветитьProper polarity also helps create proper soundstaging and imaging among a properly set up stereo PAIR of speakers while you're listening to them in their sweet spot.
However, unless you're really listening for it, or if you're not at all an "audiophile", and instead you only "listen" to music as "background fill" and you don't really pay attention to it, then you're probably NOT going to ever even notice OR care about any phase or polarity inversions among your speakers OR in the music played through them.
Why is sound visualized as a travelling wave rather than a direct mechanical connection of speaker and ear? The wave is only inducing motion, it isn't the actual substance of sound.
Ответитьhi what happened but i don't think it matters is that i connected the marked wire normally for + but to the - polarity but i also connected this one to the - polarity of the amp . so it's - to - and + to + as expected , what only changes is the colour on the cable
ОтветитьReally 😂😂😂
ОтветитьPolarized my mother in law 😂😂😂
ОтветитьPull up 😂😂😂
ОтветитьThere are numerous speaker manufactures that use reverse polarity in their speaker designs, JBL being one of the more famous brands. A lot of 3-way speaker designs use reverse polarity on the mid-range or tweeter. Speaker polarity is not a steadfast rule.......The crossover design can also require reverse polarity in multi-speaker applications. I just modified a Klipsch RF-7 speaker that the new crossover design required reverse polarity on the tweeter, it sounds amazing!
ОтветитьWould a blown sub still go in and out while testing the polarity?
Ответитьit helps me to fix my car stereo thanks 👍🏻
i have installed new JVC stereo in my old car because my sony stereo died after 12 years.
but i accidentally connected one speaker with correct polarity and the other with reverse polarity. So what happen, when i play the music the vocals are good but the base is zero because one speaker push the air inside at the same time the other speaker pull that air and the resultant base become zero.
but this video help me to correct my settings👍🏻
Great video, thank you. I just realized my speakers were wired incorrectly for over a year. I never noticed anything with sound, but do you think my speakers or amp were damaged?
ОтветитьExcellent vid thanks
ОтветитьNot speakers wired backwards, but in antiphase. Than: 1. What is quality of sound?! 2. Antiphase we learned in ordinary school.3. Antiphase effect you can best hear with two louspeakers one next other (& not woth headphones, because sound from them don't cancells eachother).
ОтветитьCan we create some kind of reverb sound using a 4 channel with 2 speakers with correct polarity & 2 other speakers with inverted polarity?? 😁😁
Ответить
