Hard work it seems making up for their senselessness or lack of caring.
We all get caught in our own interests and self determination.

This is very true! When I told a two narcs about my mothers passing, I could immediately feel the tension of I don't want to hear about/get over it type of feeling and the other I worked with didn't give any condolences just went right into about his father's passing and even began to tear up and wanted comfort from me. It was the beginning of the end of that work relationship that started a whole other downhill mess between us.
