I think Linux can be for your everday user. Plenty of people run linux machines as a way to run older tech they can afford. Now fucking around with the system even something light like ricing your desktop you absolutely look like a big nerd. I think knowing a system inside and out and controlling your system might not matter to the average person but I certainly think its something to be proud of in certain circles.
Ответить"read the manual"
NCommander did a video where he installed a boxed version of linux from 1998 on an old IBM laptop and he had a terrible experience doing it because the "documentation" was so poorly written that at one point the instructions flat out said "do steps 1 through 6" and step 7 said "just ignore steps 1 through 6 and do this instead".
And he's not someone whose just picked up linux yesterday, he'd been a kernel level linux dev for 20 years.
I got Mint running on a chromebook. Touchpad sucks. but works. I had to unplug the battery and run on AC to flash bios. Without my disorder i would have thrown it away multiple times in the process.
ОтветитьDawid is hilarious. I love his content lol.
Ответитьthe snap version of steam has been broken for a long time now, so long that the steam developers are just begging them to either fix it or take it down.
canonical, of course, ignores them anyways.
"Oh Theres some Ly-nuxing happening" 😂🤣
He's funny but I can't help but feel I'm listening to Michael McIntyre and he's going to do that silly hair flippy thing LOL
I don't like LINUX nerds that have "POTTY MOUTHS".
ОтветитьIf you want Linux on a ARM processor, use a raspberry PI.
ОтветитьI love David's Video's and also yours
Have a lot of good points
Last he did not try to install Gentoo :)
I had a Chromebook, most Chromebook’s are locked to only works with Chromebook OS, not chrome OS which is not the same, and my notebook was not armed based, but it was Intel, a i7 quad core, with 8ghz of ram and it was around $800, and no, it was not worth it! I felt robbed, the dang thing was not operational while offline, so you have to download Linux beta, and it was the most unstable Linux version ever.
ОтветитьLynux is the new meme.
ОтветитьHahahahahahahaha that's hilarious!! I know how he feels, except my problems we're with Linux not Ly Nicks Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
ОтветитьYep, people thinking Linux is the ANSWER to tech problems or workarounds are smoking trees. Linux is an alternative for those who are geeks, it isn't going to solve pre existing issues especially on the device he is using. Linux for can work in mainstream for some situations. My elderly parents operate an old PC but i have installed Mint on it as it does run quicker than Windows. All they do is surf the internet and buy things. They don't run third party software other than the web browser, calculator and maybe libreoffice writer. But be prepared to provide free family tech support!
ОтветитьI love Dawid. I love the way said Linux it must have pissed off the neck beards so hard. lolz
ОтветитьOur image doesn't come out of nowhere. We're overhyping it beyond what you could ever expect from an OS and then when people give feedback and say it didn't do as promised, we just stick our fingers in our ears and start yelling "NORMIE FILTERED" over and over again as loud as we can. With this rose tinted view on Linux and the hostility towards anything negative, we will never see Linux at its full potential. It'll stay a toy hobby OS for nerds forever while people who have a life laugh at us when we pretend it's not, like a 5 year old trying to buy candy with monopoly money.
ОтветитьLinux and arm no-go? What is Android for then?
Ответить"That's some Luy-Nucks over there" 🤣 Love it 💪😁
ОтветитьLinux is not for everyone. One of my friend bought a new pc recently and he wanted a linux distro on it. I installed a Linux Mint for him. It worked well, but he does not speak at all english, he don't know much about PC and that is why he had a lot of disadvantage. Especially when he wanted to play games not on steam platform... it was a hell for him. He is a happy windows user now... xD
Ответить"Lye Nicks" is KILLING me!!! AHHH!@!!!
ОтветитьHilarious, and great, just great. As good as the best comedy programme.
ОтветитьOn your point on the documentation, there comes a point where you have to assume a level of prior knowledge. It's also a matter of what level of prior knowledge you aim at. If you do make a reasonable assumption on that prior knowledge and the documentation doesn't do its job, then yes, it needs more work.
In the case of poor Dawid here, I don't think any amount of task specific documentation would help. I'm making the assumption that he lacks some of the "fundamentals" required for taking this additional step. And that's just the way it is, right now. It doesn't have to remain that way, but there's also very little reason why it would change.
It was an entertaining video to watch, but I feel bad for him for having had this nonsense foisted upon him by a bunch of perspective-lacking hairless apes on the internet.
Seen him before. I don't know how old he IS, but I can tell you how old he Acts. Like a kid whose just discovered naughty words but doesn't know what they mean, or how to pronounce them. 🤭
ОтветитьI don't have patients for guys like him. My Chromebook has never been better since installing Linux on it, Arch, Debian and Fedora based distros. It's not a big deal. If you really wanna do it, you'll find a way.
Ответитьthis is in my humble opinion the overarching problem with linux community - they preach linux to the smallest demographics that are actually the least well placed to use linux in the first place.
ОтветитьI laughed my ass off when he said you have to install inside out like a virus
Ответить😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I almost spit my coffee out multiple times, but you are correct this is how Linux is perceived to the average user.
Ответитьevery time he says LY-NUX, I can imagine the screams of Arch nerds ascending to the heavens and I am filled with joy.
ОтветитьYou plus Dawid is a combo i didnt know i needed in my life
Ответить
