Reminds me of the days a couple of years ago, on a farm being a round the camp fire in the middle of a game farm in KZN South Africa, no one around except us, bbq wine just listening to the silence, sometimes hear the Russel of animals in the bush. Magic !

Absolutely resonate with what he was saying summers are wet I think if we have a good spring its possible for fire to catch easily, but after End oct November and December forget it, but in January after cold crisp spells wood can ignite easily again but under bone dry sub zero cold crisp environments, its all about the conditions for the natural laying wood to dry out! it this environment take some tinder and wood, and use what is around you if dry enough! ps Love this video

One of the great things about these "Camp outs" is it makes everyone appreciate just how slow cooking used to be!!!
This , on top of the amount of wood needed to keep a fire going - for the entire cooking period - is a vital lesson for all who are used to just ordering off JustEast or popping their dinner in a microwave / oven.
