Police appear to use pepper spray to clear a pro-Palestinian encampment on the Diag at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. University President Santa Ono said the sweep came days after the university fire marshal determined protesters had created fire hazards that would result in a likely “catastrophic loss of life” should a fire break out.
