definitely need this ute in Australia. Plug in hybrids as far as electric vehicles go, are the only way for Australian roads. Towing in full electric long distances is not an option. Also bring on the full spec luxury. Luxury and quality is what GWM needs to penetrate the market. We need reliability on our vast open roads. Also GWM, make sure your spare parts network is well covered Australia wide. We don’t want to be waiting for parts when 3000klm’s away from home.
ОтветитьPlease bring it in 😊
ОтветитьBring it but I also want to see the twin turbo 3.0L diesel
ОтветитьThis looks so good. Hope it shakes up the market. Ford and Toyota need a wake up call
ОтветитьConsidering the Shark 6 sold all of its 2500 first batch in a couple of days I would think Australia is very much ready for this Tech.
Bring it on! This and the shark together will give Ford and Toyota a rethink.
I have not seen any comments about the spare wheel. Does it have any?
ОтветитьI agree 500+kg does not sound ideal for a ute, 650-700kg+ is more what people expect, but, look at ram 1500 trx which has coil rear, also only 500kg+ payload, it has a huge trunk, but you trade payload for speed and comfort; cannon alpha is not a speed demon, but you save a loooooooot of fuel when urban driving, which for most of us is 320day+ out of a year, that's just my view tho
ОтветитьDefinitely Australia needs this ute
ОтветитьDefinitely bring it in to Australia. But I agree needs to be well priced. Over 90k no one will buy it.
ОтветитьAlso, definitely bring this in blue, i personally wouldn't buy that colour
ОтветитьI lose interest as soon as the payload is mentioned
ОтветитьI’d only go a PHEV Ute. This EV range is perfect for urban daily runs. Even though the carry capacity is low I’d think that’s offset by the towing capability. As for price, with the BYD Shark 6 being very competitive I’d think the GWM should be well under the price point you’ve suggested.
Ответитьbring it in ill buy on now and a fleet for work...
ОтветитьUnder 90....whilst the BYD Shark is 60? Good luck with that...will need to be 70K.
ОтветитьWill us poor cousins in NZ get it? We still don't get the regular Cannon XSR! 😮💨
ОтветитьI’d get one
Ответить90k is ludicrous no one would but it. Has heaps of potential if a good price though.
ОтветитьI think companies like Telstra who are always looking for ways to reduce running costs and being green as practical will be interested in a hybrid ute, provided the payload is sufficient to meet requirements. They currently have a fleet of Rangers and no doubt will be interested in the hybrid version of the Ranger, but GWM could have a viable alternative to them and other organisations like Telstra.
ОтветитьGot to hand it to the Chinese for coming up with the split tail gate idea. Great engineering. I wonder if you can sit on it.
ОтветитьAs we've seen with the BYD Shark there's a huge interest & market for the right product for the RIGHT PRICE.
It can't be more expensive than the Shark or there abouts.
And PLEASE, for crying out loud OFFER NORMAL COLORS. I bet 95% of the people would hate the yellow and specially with those Yellow trims inside the cabin. It's hideous.
And LESS CHROME please. Keep the interior decent and not too shiny. Again get rid of the yellow.
I'll definitely be buying one if they touch up on those and offer around the BYD Shark price...
I want one.. especially off road capable with as many off road options fitted or The xls version that you drove looks great..probably needs bull bar and an electric cover at the back
ОтветитьIf you’d have asked me a couple years ago if I would ever consider a Chinese Ute the answer would be a firm ‘no’. But given the performance, features, tech and price on offer compared to established players and their absurd pricing, it’s a very compelling product. Just dial the chintzy styling back a tad!
ОтветитьHybrids are the Big sellers pure EV sales are in the Bin ..
Ответить$90000 your kidding byd is $59000
Ответитьif china keep on attacking our Air Force we won't B bringing in any Chinese vehicles so if I was GWM I would B holding on 🤔
ОтветитьLooks pretty good to me. It would be good to know something about the drivetrain though. I presume the electric motor is sandwiched between the engine and gearbox. It seems that the electric only
Mode benefits from the gearing of the transmission and diffs. Do they lock? How much efficiency does the electric motor lose through the drivetrain? Does it have regeneration capability? Pretty superficial review really.
I think Id rather a shark, as it is able to be used to run an off grid living/house becasue it is basically a 1.5Ltr generator. The shark could be a vehicle, and a tesla battery wall in one.
ОтветитьDump plugs altogether, non plug-ins are just fine, and I can imagine a lot of people not using the socket.
Ответитьoh my lord that company logo on the front has got to go it is hideous
ОтветитьThe full EV's arnt too far away. Battery technology is the Achilles heal. They degrade to fast and don't last long enough. The batteries deprieciate the vehicles far to quickly. American Lucid technology has promise. Both in electric motor superiority and battery range. Again we need to consider battery life. As long as we can get it at Chinese prices. A Chinese Lucid Gravity Ute like a Rivian. For the price of a BYD shark 6. Would get my attention.
ОтветитьLooks amazing!
ОтветитьForget hybrids/ fully ev . Just give us a 3lt V6 diesel and please seal the tailgate to stop dirt and dust covering everything in the tub when off road.
ОтветитьI want one now!
ОтветитьWould love it! Thanks.
Ответить530 payload! Going to make it hard to tow 3500kg
ОтветитьI've never had the urge to test drive a dual cab but this and the shark has got me seriously thinking about it for my next car.. Absolutely they should bring it in.. Ford probably says don't.. 😀
ОтветитьLooks great no pun. Seriously thinking of getting one of these.
ОтветитьBring it!!!
ОтветитьI would like a PHEV ute. Great review. I would definitely go for a higher GVM.
ОтветитьGWM's new PHEV is a great idea for Australia because I'm certainly not interested in a pure electric vehicle with the distances I travel. This ute seems like something I would actually consider. My only gripe with it is the badging front and rear with that BIG 'P'. which I believe is the name 'POER' in China. To make us feel like it's a stayer and not just a one model wonder GWM needs to create a naming convention for their models that's used worldwide to give us faith that it's a recognised product that has universal backing.
Ответитьdepending on the price i would 100% buy one
ОтветитьI would love to see a tow video using this, we have a caravan (3.5t) and towing it with a landcruiser is horrendous at best on fuel. But i worry it claims it has a 3.5t tow capacity but when you actually put 3.5t on it what will break
ОтветитьGOD i hate the badges they put on them, If they offered a badge delete option for any of these chinese cars id be more interested. I looked at the shark and its ok, but id instantly remove the BYD logos because its tacky. Toyota can do it, because they have a legacy of reliability and brand reputation. like sony samsung etc. but byd or GW is like putting a giant CHANGZINGHONGSONY badge on your tv in a sony showroom.
ОтветитьAnother thing that this guys only just hinted at is how things only SOMETIMES work, liek the start up chime. That's what ive found with chinese cars, you have to compromise all the time, kinda liek the ranger and how slow its infotainment crap is. ITs 2025 not one onboard computer should be slow. BUT, I do like its looks a little more than the Shark, Id only buy the top of the line model, not interested in poverty pack cars, especially if its an import or the shark for example has if not better levels of tech.
ОтветитьBring it in, tune it for our roads & conditions & send it.
ОтветитьSo, I am a bit late to the party but here is my take.
Would I buy an XSR, well, being a tried-and-true Ford Ranger man, I've had three, yes, I would most certainly buy one, I have been chasing after a bigger than normal 4x4 ute but affordable, fuel efficient, comfortable and can do the work. I don't carry much but I do tow on a regular basis, so if GWM are reading these comments please bring it to Australia, I think I may be converted....
love it
ОтветитьLove it! Keep the price reasonable - bring it on!
ОтветитьLove the car I would buy it now, all I worry about is the price .
Wouldn't pay much over 65k to 70k as this is all I could afford.
its on my wife and Is shopping list for december, if they land in nz
Ответить
