Timothée & James Receive a Visionary Tribute at the Gotham Awards for their work on bob Dylan movie

Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold will receive a Visionary Tribute at the upcoming Gotham Awards for their work on A Complete Unknown, Searchlight Pictures' upcoming Bob Dylan biopic a distinction that recognizes groundbreaking collaborations that push the boundaries of storytelling in film.

In A Complete Unknown, Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold have beautifully captured Dylan's emergence in 1960s New York not just as an artistic evolution, but as a meditation on the necessity of change, said Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of the event's parent organization, The Gotham Film & Media Institute.

Through Chalamet's breathtakingly real portrayal and Mangold's excellent direction, we see Dylan's metamorphosis from folk prophet to electric rebel, demonstrating how progress frequently necessitates letting go of the very relationships and identities that make us.

A Complete Unknown is set in New York during the early 1960s. In the midst of a thriving music scene and violent cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary skill, determined to change the course of American music.

As he builds his most intimate ties throughout his climb to stardom, he becomes dissatisfied with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, takes a contentious decision that has cultural ramifications around the world. Chalamet acts and performs as Bob Dylan in Mangold's latest film.

Searchlight will release the picture on December 25. Production began in New York City and New Jersey in the spring of 2024. The cast also includes Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, and Monica Barbaro. It was written by Mangold and Jay Cocks, produced by Range's Fred Berger, Mangold through Turnpike Films, The Picture Company's Alex Heineman, Veritas Entertainment Group's Bob Bookman, Peter Jaysen and Alan Gasmer, Bob Dylan's longtime representative Jeff Rosen, and Chalamet.

The Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated actor has collaborated with Luca Guadagnino, Greta Gerwig, Denis Villeneuve, Adam McKay, Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, and Christopher Nolan.

He was the youngest Best Actor Oscar candidate since 1939 for Call Me by Your Name, and he has been in five Best Picture nominated films: Lady Bird, Little Women, Dune, and Don't Look Up. Last year, Chalamet shattered a nearly half-century record by starring in two of the highest-grossing films in eight months, collecting more than $1.2 billion.

Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two grossed more than $700 million, while Paul King's film musical Wonka earned more than $600 million. Chalamet is presently shooting Marty Supreme for director Josh Safdie in New York. Mangold, an Oscar-nominated writer-director, is known for his eclectic body of work, which includes Heavy, Cop Land, Girl Interrupted, 3:10 to Yuma, Logan, and Ford v Ferrari. He returns to the musical biographical genre with A Complete Unknown, his first since Walk the Line, which won an Oscar. His films have received Academy Awards, Golden Globes, SAG, BAFTA, Sundance Film Festival, and numerous guild and critic nominations and awards.
