Advent HOPE 2016 (Harvest Annapolis)

Hope. The great motivator.

Every day is an exercise in hope. We hope to we get to work safely. We hope we have enough money in the bank account. We hope that we are a good parent, a good friend, a good neighbor. We hope. We hope. We hope.

And in these things we define ourselves. It is so easy, too easy, to put our hope into what we do in this world. Into our relationships, our jobs, our status. We have faith in our own ability to pull ourselves through.

But all that faith in ourselves is but dirty rags, a mote of dust balanced against the mountain of our sin debt. But our hope is not in ourselves. For to us God chose to make known how great are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
