This video Is excelent. Tx a lot.. i do mean it. 👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьThis is so great! thank you!
ОтветитьI loved your video. You covered a wealth of helpful info! Now we can submerge after the flags up to the wall! Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!
Ответитьthanks
ОтветитьNote: the finish stuff is already outdated
ОтветитьGreat tips to freshen up my bk coaching with my age group swimmers. My fav => hand entry position as it’s the most common mistake I see especially in young swimmers.
ОтветитьThank you for the information! Note that the submerging rule has changed at the last FINA update and you are allowed to be fully submerged at the finnish as long as part of your head is above water at some point in the last 5m (after the flags)
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьThanks for good tip for improving my son's backstroke. Are there more drill to swimming backstroke faster?
ОтветитьNice tips. I'm a backstroke beginner, for me changing the speed in the middle of the lane in backstroke is much harder than freestyle, a few underwater dolphin kicks after pushing off the wall really add momentum and can last for the entire 25m. For arm position, I used to enter at 11 and 1, which I think will help the body rotation, will try 10 and 2 and give feedback.
ОтветитьExtremely well done! Thoughtful, concise and focuses not just on the "what" to do but more importantly on the "how" and "why." Surprised Kyle did not include the "spin" drill, although that can be a bit tough on the shoulders... especially for age group swimmers. First rate!!
ОтветитьLovin all these tips. I sure could have used them when I was a backstroker. Luckily I can teach them to all my kids. Thank you!
ОтветитьI just need to go 50 in the 1 bk
ОтветитьGreat tip
ОтветитьFabulous, spot-on drills! I’m working hard to keep a shoulder injury at bay. The 2-2-2 drill is key for me, allowing time to really focus on form. Thanks. coach! Here’s to years of great backstroke!
ОтветитьNo longer it is required to have some part of your body above water at the finishing of the backstroke. Complete submerging is ALLOWED as of 2023! This is great NEWS!
Ответитьthank u. backstroke is challenging really
ОтветитьI shared this video with my 9 year old son because he never listens to me (and you’re obviously a well qualified expert). Thanks for the tips.
ОтветитьI am a master swimmer (64 ur old) and I am sincerely following your video to improve my backstroke especially the finish.
I liked your tip on the “finish “ since at times I used to miss the stroke count and eventually landed up stretching my arm , pushing myself to get a good touch , … Now that I understand the technique of count - arm reach with half last stroke, this will definitely help
Many Thanks

ОтветитьUPDATE: New Rules. Swimmers are now allowed to be fully submerged at the finish.
ОтветитьI like this video. In fact I 'm 76 n have just learnt the back stroke. I love it n want to master it. Thank you
ОтветитьOutstanding breakdown of the stroke. My son (who’s a good backstroker himself) loved it. Well done.
ОтветитьKyle, backstroke is my least favorite and weakest stroke because water comes into my nose even I hold my breath during underwater. Some people told me to keep exhaling from my nose to prevent water from coming into. But if I do so, I run out of oxygen very quickly. I look forward to your advice. Thanks
ОтветитьYassss
ОтветитьGoing for Louisiana state records in back this season. This vid helps a lot. Thank you!
ОтветитьStroke count!
ОтветитьKyle: I liked all the tips, but especially the end touch. Thanks!
ОтветитьI need to do more underwater kick.pls Help
ОтветитьPerfect tips.... Thanks buddy
Ответитьpicklechin need cap bc big head
ОтветитьThanks for the vid👍
FYI - since 2023 you can finish fully underwater:
NCAA Position on Revised FINA Backstroke Finish Rule
Posted on March 15, 2023 by Gary Matyko
Effective February 21, 2023, World Aquatics, formerly known as FINA, implemented a change to the Backstroke finish rule, allowing the swimmer to fully submerge prior to reaching for the finish.
Here is the revised World Aquatics Rule 6.3:
“6.3 Some part of the swimmer must break the surface of the water throughout the race, except that once some part of the head of the swimmer has passed the 5 metres mark immediately prior to reaching for the finish, the swimmer may be completely submerged. It is also permissible for the swimmer to be completely submerged during the turn, and for a distance of not more than 15 metres after the start and each turn. By that point the head must have broken the surface.”
Effective March 10, 2023, Derek Paul, Chair USA Swimming Rules & Regulations Committee implemented the same rule revision as follows:
USA Swimming Rule USA Swimming Rule 101.4.2 (pp 24) – To Comply with World Aquatics SW6.3
Stroke — The swimmer shall push off on his back and continue swimming on the back throughout the race. Some part of the swimmer must break the surface of the water throughout the race, except it is permissible for the swimmer to be completely submerged during the turn and for a distance of not more than 15 meters (16.4 yards) after the start and after each turn. By that point, the head must have broken the surface of the water. Additionally, once some part of the head of the swimmer has passed the 5 meter mark (long course and short course meters) or 5 yard mark (short course yards) immediately prior to reaching the finish, the swimmer may be completely submerged prior to the touch.
Big thanks for the detailed information.
ОтветитьReally useful. Thank you
ОтветитьHand entry - I help my daughter in her swim practice and you have finally said it. That its not 11 n 1 however inbetween 9-3 10-2. Will try this as she has a habit of doing crossover. Well explaned!
ОтветитьBacktalker
ОтветитьAmazing video. I’m just swimming again in masters swimming after 40 years. When I returned my backstroke was terrible. This video helped me learn so much and the 10/2 o’clock entry was an element help for me. I tried 9/3 o’clock and it was mind blowing, but nailing down 9/2 with a good roll. I’m enjoying backstroke so much more now. Also the kick and hip movements was so helpful. Now at 62 years old I can be more effective in my IM. Thank you brother for your video!!! ❤❤❤
ОтветитьShould have had more clips while actually in the water
ОтветитьGreat tips! 4 kicks on every wall!!
ОтветитьThank I for double arm backstroke drill
ОтветитьHand placement was a very helpful tip. Thanks
ОтветитьGreat tips
ОтветитьHello Kyle, I just wanted to say thanks for this video. I watched this with my daughter right before her meet this morning and she got a state cut because of the key details you demonstrated. We appreciate it. Much ❤
Ответитьcal swimming
ОтветитьGreat tips thank you.
ОтветитьHaving your toes over the edge of the pool like that in your start will get you DQ'd.
ОтветитьGood video, where can I get more on the drills?
