That Trump account for children sounds great initially. It does but look at it closely. If; providing if it had a 7% growth rate per year and you’re at $170,000 when your 17 or 19. Then $700,000 at 35 years old I would be applying a lesson you already know. First like any conventional IRA of before tax dollars the dollar(s) you withdraw at some point won’t be 100 cents. There will be some shaved off in the form of a tax. The same as is true with other financial instruments that accrue interest. And the biggest caution is to look at what Social Security promised when it was first created and sold to the public. Look at the reality in the light of today and what can be said. Our government turned what was a promise of a program that would be there for working taxpayers in their golden years with a pot of funds to be set directly aside for only that purpose. What it became was a political slush fund to borrow from but borrow implies replacing or putting back. And from looking at the last recent years and findings it has not only been under mismanagement loosing millions as a result of fraud. Huge pots of funds that are under a government program as we’ve seen already attract and collect huge amounts of fraudsters that I would call high rollers. People more than willing to take the risks. The funny thing is I think if you just went out to rob a bank the penalty would be far higher that if your just a friend or family member with some bogus created LLC shell organization that takes in money from an NGO where you just keep peeling off fees. Kick some back. A few bucks of crumbs to the target.
