So.... why didn't they call Evans?
ОтветитьLovely movie❤❤❤ thanks You tube
Ответить??? WHAT ABOUT THE 17YR OLD????
ОтветитьFunny in this post’s description of the film it says it takes place in a “bustling European city.” Nope! That’s London. 😂
ОтветитьGreat movies it's nice to see the clothes and the environments in the movies. I sure didn't miss any swearing either
ОтветитьGonna check this one out only because I've loved the song Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty forever.
ОтветитьI just love Cecil Parker's voice.
ОтветитьIs this a Sherlock Holmes mystery? Haven't watched it yet... just came on my feed.
ОтветитьWhy didn’t they ask Evans
ОтветитьI was expecting Holmes and there wasn't any sign of the man.
It was an okay movie. Thanks.
Miss Lennox drove a left hand drive vehicle away from the kidnap scene.......England drive right hand vehicles like the taxi following the bus
ОтветитьVera Miles is such a beautiful, intelligent
and believable actress.
Love Van Johnson, too.🩷🩵
Good story, and good acting from Cecil Parker.
ОтветитьNot a bad print.
ОтветитьSo good to see Vera Miles, a wonderful actress. The scene in the Searchers where she reads out the letter from Marty is one of my favourites, terribly funny, but also very touching. Excellent film, which makes London look beautiful in a way that I fear would be impossible now.
ОтветитьThis film must have influenced the screen writer of the final scenes in “Wait Until Dark” with Audrey Hepburn.
ОтветитьI was also expecting this to be a Sherlock Holmes movie because of the unfortunate choice of title. The movie itself is made in that classic A-list style that I really like that hasn't been used since the 50s or 60s (because they don't know how to make movies like that anymore). The movie actually reminds me of "Rear Window," which may have been a possible influence since it came out 2 years before this one.
ОтветитьDumbest movie I ever saw.
ОтветитьFrankly it started very well but turned to a soap opera towards the end. Also too many twists and turns mostly too dark to see anything. I give it 5/10.
ОтветитьGreat film noir!
ОтветитьOh! Wish todays movies didn't have foul language, unnecessary sex scenes, violence, etc, etc.
ОтветитьJean is so desperate it’s mortifying. She couldn’t be more obvious even to a blind man.cringe.
ОтветитьGood flic. The love story is unnecessary, but the rest is quite enjoyable.
ОтветитьHow did he know
where all the lights, and lights switches are ?
"Why didn't they ask Evans " ?
... Aga Christy ...
Van Johnson was a great actor. Thanks so much for sharing this movie.
ОтветитьExcellent
ОтветитьExcellent Movie! 🥳🎫🍿 I love classics from the 40s & 50s .... And this one does not disappoint! 😄 The story was fun & interesting....The acting and camaraderie between Van, Vera, & Cecil was warm & inviting :) And the LOVELY London views.... Very fun & soothing to watch! This is one of my Go-To "Background Movies" which I play in the background while I do housework or whatever.... The music & dialogue are very calming & soothing :) I watch this frequently as well as "Heidi" from 1968 for this "chill" effect in the house :) Thank you for sharing :) Lovely! Sweet & fulfilling ending between the two lovebirds, as well :) Rachel in Nashville :) 👩🎨😺☕☕🍿🎫🎫
ОтветитьSeptember 13th I enjoyed the movie very much and I like the plot
ОтветитьAn early "Wait Until Dark"
Ответить😊😊😊
ОтветитьA reproach first: a blind man, so sensitive to smells, perfumes, sounds, noises, atmospheres, that the main character should have realized, right away, that his (intentional) assassin was making him enter an abandoned and half-destroyed building, because as cold and damp as the outside, smelling of mold, dust, the ruin..
For the rest it is one of those films that we could call mystery for mystery's sake, which explains nothing of the stakes of the crime and focuses on the investigation and nothing but it, with originality ( relative, see "Eyes in the Night", 1942) of being initiated and led by a blind man.
The film is slow, sometimes a bit boring, with a thin suspense, but it is rather well directed by the master Henry Hathaway, and then I like London in those years (which reminds me of "Midnight Lace"), and the fiancée, Vera Miles, is very pretty.
Thanks for the discovery and sharing.
I love how all the normal everyday sounds that we take for granted are increased in volume here so we can experience what his life is like. Plus, Van Johnson! 💜💜💜
ОтветитьGollywogs are pretty controversial now- only people trying to prove a racist point would have one. Basically the same as using the N word.
ОтветитьA very good story and very well acted.
ОтветитьWhere’s the into music and credits?
ОтветитьVera's lovely isn't she?!🥰
Ответить...ohh London, a once beautiful, clean and disciplined place...the old glory, but today filled with all the t..., s..., par....d from the ME, Africa and the rest of the world
ОтветитьThe film is based on Philip MacDonald’s mystery novel “Warrant For X”, which featured his sleuth Anthony Gethryn.
ОтветитьGreat flick! No ads!!!!!
ОтветитьReminds me a bit of Hitchcock’s. ‘Rear Window’ … but certainly not as good.
Ответить23 Paces to Baker Street (1956) A blind American writer in London overhears a kidnapping plot and uses his four other senses to track down the perpetrators.
ОтветитьGood 🍿 movie.
ОтветитьHe needs a dog.
ОтветитьNever seen this movie… but I like a good Thriller do we’ll see ❤
Ответитьneither van johnson nor vera miles are favorites of mine - but they have surprisingly good chemistry here - and i've never seen vera miles lovelier - and London is lovely too
ОтветитьVery Hitchcock-esk .... good crime chaser, very worth the watch 👌👌
ОтветитьThere are quite a few comments alleging that the movie is somehow an imitation of Hitchcock’s Rear Window. But actually it is based on the 1938 over Warrant for X y Philip MacDonald. Glad to find this
