Cardio has huge mental benefits as well. Most sports demand both--many jobs demand both--and life is easier with both. My unsolicited thoughts :)
ОтветитьNever understood looking great but not being able to walk up a few stairs. Unless just looking goods what your after. Both together are obviously best
ОтветитьI've lifted regularly for about 3 years. For the last 1 year, I've cycle a lot. if anything, the cycling has improved my lifts, rather than things staying the same. I feel like my breathing is less taxed now and It's been particularly helpful with improving similar lower body exercises, such as lunges.
ОтветитьWell it is extremly rare for me to not bike at least 10 km a day so this is reassuring.
ОтветитьWhat if my cardio is 10000 steps EVERYDAY. That shouldnt affect muscle and strength gains right? The study discussed running and jogging, so how about walking?
ОтветитьBasically, physically demanding sports, boxing 🥊,rugby, sprinting
ОтветитьIm not a body builder. But I just started my exercise for the last 3 months.
I walk with stairs carrying 2lbs for 20 mins.
Next 30 mins: running stairs
Then 1 hr: dumbells
Next hr warm up and taekwondo kicks
I dont care what journals say. I need the cardio to improve my endurance on taekwondo kicks.
I usually workout for 30 minutes first and then go swimming for about 50 minutes a day, it works perfect for me
ОтветитьI literally lift weights in tabata and my muscles grow just fine. Snatches, lunges, cable presses, squats, all in tabata with dumbbells in my hands. Doesn't stop me from getting stronger.
ОтветитьI swear these studies are as irrational and unpredictable like my wife. The study changes on a yearly basis. I think those who are not doing it competitively just needs to move and get tired.
ОтветитьTake a shot everytime he says training
ОтветитьStudies are simply boring!
ОтветитьI am a 60 year old male.
I have been doing high intensity weight training for about 30 plus years and I am in great shape.
Great video.
Cardio kill muscles gain i believe in my personal experience, but I'll do cardio and strength training in different sessions
ОтветитьWere these test subjects on a calorie surplus or calorie deficit?
ОтветитьStupid question. Can you lift weights without using your cardiovascular system?
ОтветитьThere areforms of exercise that naturally work both: heavy, sled pushing and pulling, farmer's walks, rucking in hilly terrain, kettlebell training, etc.
ОтветитьI've started running lately. I've been lifting for a good while. I definitely feel better with more rigorous cardio.
Ответитьboth are needed. I’m sick of these physical and diet trends. Do both and eat healthy and balanced foods with all macros and your done!
ОтветитьMy plan is to use the stair master for 30 mins @ level 7 my body weight is 220. Then weight training later at night. So I'm not letting cardio mess my muscle gains but also making sure I get the health benefits from cardio
ОтветитьDoes it matter if I do cardio first in different sessions?
ОтветитьMma fighters have always mixed the two.. having no gas tank with big muscles is so gay
ОтветитьWhen i went from serious marathon runner to serious rock climber, i put on 15 lbs of muscle. Went back to running later and kept my gains, but went from long distance to shorter faster distance and sprints.
ОтветитьHealth
--------
Gains
Nothing in nature does only strength moves. Even turtles sprint.
ОтветитьLook at American football players. Strength and cardio. Same with Rigby.
Ответить30 years of training and everytime I start doing cardio except for sprints, my legs get smaller, and def won’t grow. Period I’ve tried so many times I’ve lost count. Strength could increase but not size
ОтветитьCosgroves Evil 8....
ОтветитьCardio and heart health is FAR more important for health. People need to stop obsessing over "gains".
ОтветитьAs long as there done on different days .if you want to build more muscle emphasize your workouts to what you want to achieve ,eg 3 days a week moderate to your heavy resistance training / twice a week do cardio 45 minutes to an hour ea h session and if you want a cardio emphasized work out reverse this routine most of these influences out there over complicate th8ngs and make it hard to understand what there talking about it's not rocket science here's an example if you want to be big muscular and vascular cardio should be twice a week max for no mrw than 30 min each session and the flip side you want a lean muscular not to big but flexible body up the cardio to 3/4 times a week with hour long more intense sessions it's simple really I don't know why these you tubers make things so complicated GO SAM SULEK AND DAVID GOGGINS THEY KNOW
ОтветитьThe whole “interference” thing is ridiculous.. you are taking time and energy from the dedication to one and applying it to the other. This isn’t rocket science
ОтветитьSo updated saying “Cardio first is hindering your potential gains”
ОтветитьI am so sick of the obsession with "gains" taking center stage over health. If you want something to truly test your strength try doing a 60 minute lactate threshold workout at 85-90% max heart rate. It will test your mental strength FAR more than any lifting could ever dream. But you will be rewarded by huge improvements in overall health and endurance, which ironically allow you make the most "gains". I would bet most lifters can't even last 5 minutes at threshold.
ОтветитьThis is a nonsense every sport requires a mix of both strength and cardio , the heart benefits from both forms of exercise. If you measure strength alone you may lose some muscle mass but you will gain on stamina. If you look at the health over view for long term longevity the caveman model of hunter gatherer is the greatest blueprint of human endurance
ОтветитьI do 3 sets of different lifts then do 2-5 mins of higher intensity cardio in between. That’s 1 circuit, then I do the circuit 4-8 times for my workout. Sometimes I’ll do a single set of a power lift (ex BB snatches) then the cardio HIIT in between as the circuit. Doing it this way I can both build muscle mass and lose fat while also improving my endurance. For someone in their mid-40s with not a lot of time this has been the most effective workout strategy for me.
ОтветитьDepends what your goals are if you want to be practi ally strong look reasonably good and feel great about yourself just do it 45 minutes rwsistance training and 30 minutes on bike ,traedmill or riwing dont fall into the trap of seeing all tbese utubers who look big and strong most only weigh in at 160, 180 pounds if that then you get juiced up mass monsters unachieveable by most just be you and feel good a out your body fittness and overall health dont fall into tbe utuber trap no wounder so many people are suffering from body dismorphia look in the mirror a d be happy with you
ОтветитьKettlebell circuits pretty much cover all the bases
ОтветитьJust separate strength and cardio sessions to be on the safe side
ОтветитьPersonally,I think exercises that are cardio and strength at the same time are really underrated. Most of my cardio comes from cardio calisthenics, hiit and boxing,so I can get cardio and strength at the same time.
ОтветитьHeavy (for me, 50lb each hand) Farmer’s Walk on a treadmill 30 seconds holding, 30 seconds resting the weights on the safety bar/cup holders really works for me.
ОтветитьAll I know is I was in the best shape of my life when I did both strength/resistance training AND cardio, and I don't think I would have been there if I dropped one or the other.
ОтветитьAlso, it seems like the answer is the classic "it depends." It depends on what you do, how you do it, how often you do it, your own generics, what your goals are, etc. Perhaps cardio and strength training 7 times a week could lead to lack of recovery time and maybe you aren't as strong as you could be, but you just have to think about what you're doing. If you are trying to grow your muscles and you are constantly dehydrating your body with tons of cardio and you can't keep up with enough water intake to rehydrate and fill your muscles, an intense cardio session right after resistance training might not be the best idea.
Ответитьgood and well researched video
ОтветитьIm a gym rat and now Im training for a marathon.. i want to be shirtless and have muscle while running😂
ОтветитьGreat tips on how to balance cardio and weight training. It's something I've struggled with, but this makes it seem achievable.
ОтветитьBro how many times do you want to say meta analysis?
ОтветитьI run and lift. Who cares if it’s not “optimal” I want to be strong and not get out of breath going up a flight of stairs…
Ответить
