I grew up staying up late with my dad and watching Jerry Lewis Telethon . Great memories

I have always wondered if he knew this was going to be his last telethon. I remember he would get emotional singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" at the end of the annual broadcast, but he was never as emotional as he was this time.

To think that Jerry didn’t leave a dime to any of his children.

I miss the Jerry Lewis telethon. RIP Jerry.

It’s Labor Day today. I grew up watching the telethon. I miss these nice memories.

All the money they raised never ever found a cure for M.D. 2 Trillions$

We all use to try our best to stay up and watch this all night long but didn't work out, my sister and I and even our brother would fall asleep while watching this.
The next morning as soon as we got up we got our breakfast and watched it until it went off. It's great to see everyone working together and helping out and donating money to this.
All good memories and great times back then, which by the way I said this once before and I'll say it again we all miss it and I wish they had kept this going after Jerry had passed away. Who knows maybe his kids or somebody could have took over this every year. I wish they would start this back up again every year but I know that's not going to happen.

Couldn't go out in a dignified way. Made the telethon all about HIM, right through the end. It turned MDA into JERRY'S KIDS. That was his power play. He was a terror to Patti and his sons. Yet left all of his money to his 2nd wide and adopted daughter. Lewis was his own worst enemy. His ego was huge and his insecurities were endless. I grew up loving Jerry Lewis as did my entire family. We never missed one of his telethons. Then one day, my mother became a widow with four children. She was not educated but raised us with perfect manners and we excelled in school thanks to her reading to us each evening and making us read back to her. She had to get a job at housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in Ledgewood, N.J. and was thrilled that Jerry Lewis was staying there and had a chance meeting with him. She told him how much she adored him and watched all his telethons and tv movies. He retorted, "So what. Did you ever pay to see me.? Arrogant, self absorbed SOB. He hurt her feelings to the highest degree.

He was never funny. Not once in his life

The world knows how special Jerry Lee Lewis is an very special person whom loved his kid's and his friend's and of course Hulk Hogan and The Macho Man Randy Savage and I bet he's smiling in heaven because me and my teammates are going for the gold medal 🏅 to make sure that his kid's are going to be very happy and joyful because we all loved there beloved Jerry Lee Lewis god bless Jerry Lee Lewis we all loved you our favorite September television show host and friend and of course we will always remember his song for years to come

the telethon was a fixture in our lives and marked the new school year the next day. I would lay out my catholic school uniform and new school supplies for the next morning. my mom would cry at the end. my cousin died in 76 of muscular dystrophy.

I Miss The MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon. It Was A Yearly Event, For Me. Labor Day Wasn't Labor Day Without It. I Wish That They Would Bring It Back, Some Day.

He did an amazing job every year with his Telethon. I grew up watching it every year for Labor Day. He helped many kids. I would love if they did a reunion show showing some of those kids today as adults.

Interesting he put on the water works. He treated his own family terribly. A truly horrible man. In front of the camera is just an act, nothing more.

he got all choked up for this but was a horrible father and left his kids zero and did let them attend his funeral ...this is all show biz bullshit....

We didn't know that would be the last time Jerry Lewis set the microphone down on the stool though.
He didn't return in 2011 and passed away in 2017.

These Labour day charity specials, as he took 10-20% percent of the total raised. He had been bankrupted a couple of times in the 80s. I was a runner on the show. He used to tell me what he was going to buy with the charity money.......new cars holidays in Italy. He never treated me once with the winnings i mean the charity money.

If only Jerry Lewis loved his own children as much as his MDA kids. He raised $58M for his MDA kids yet did not leave a single penny for his own children.

End of an era for me. I used to dread the appearance of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethon on TV as it marked the end of summer break, with school starting the day after the telethon ended. I was in grade school from 1972-1980 at M.C. Cash School in Phoenix. It is August 5, 2024 and I hear that school has been going on for the past week.
