The Decca Studios was where The BeaTles had their first recording audition on January 1, 1962.
It is located at 165 Broadhurst Gardens, West Hampstead, North London, England. Decca Records was in operation in this building from 1937 to 1980. The BeaTles started recording in this building and finished their recording careers at Abbey Road studio only a few miles away. But to get there they had to travel a Long And Winding Road. West of London is Ealing Broadway, a small community compared to the center of London. But in the early 1960s, a jazz and skiffle performing venue attracted Londoners who wanted to play rock 'n' roll music. This is where The Rolling Stones got their start, Rod Stewart, Elton John, and many more unknown talents. Reaching back and touching this history is a thrill that allows us to understand how the impact of these artists rose to heights which affected American, English, and world-wide audiences.
