So they failed twice and the guy with thr idea went oh OK you wanna only compete in the American market ok, goes to Ford with the idea, they love it and is a huge success, Chrysler tries to fix the mistake and makes it worse, a mid engine Viper would have been insane

Considering that Chrysler once owned Lamborghini, that might be the reason for a mid-engined Viper. Still, this reminds of that one Kodak guy and his camera.

So what I’m getting out of this is Chrysler was a bunch of wusses and now their cars suck. Way to go cuz a mid engine viper would’ve been the sickest thing ever

The ME412 was not canned for high costs. Implying the ME412 cost too much.

The ME412 was canned because Mercedes Benz cried to Daimler, the parent company, that the ME412 was too good in the face of the $600,000 SLR McLaren, one of the most expensive and UNDERWHELMING supercars of the time. Mercedes HAD to make back the money and justify the expense of time, nearly 10 years, of development.The SLR McLaren was the car that cost too much.

The ME412 was faster, far less expensive, and an altogether better car developed by Chrysler, who Daimler "bought" in 2000 and wanted as their "cheap car brand". The ME412 went from drawing board to running prototype in about 3 years. But pulling from the Mercedes parts bin, including the V12 and turbos, the car was easily taken as a 5-6 year development cycle.

Chrysler cancelled the project because mercedes AND Chrysler was in a collaboration AND because when mercedes see the Chrysler supercar said that if they produce it they will stop the collaboration because mercedes didn t want Chrysler to break their records
