I'm glad they chose a visually impaired torchbearer. Li Duan lost his eyesight when a fire extinguisher exploded. Seeing him struggle to put it on before figuring it out was really moving. Because it portrays the challenges that people like him have to face. But as shown here, even with an impairment, it is very much possible to overcome these challenges. He continued on. and THAT is the spirit we love to see

At the 2008 Summer Paralympics, torchbearer Ping Yali (China's first Paralympic gold medalist) was the first one in China to have a licensed guide dog (named Lucky). She and her guide dog walked around the stadium before giving the torch to Hou Bin. She got a guide dog because she FOUGHT for it. She was the voice of those with disabilities in China. And it's great to see so much has changed since 2008.
And now, a 4-time gold medalist got his moment to shine for the rest of the world to see

ОтветитьIts hypocrisy. " Inclusions ", except Russians and Belarusians. Is that inclusion? Did they take part in the fighting? If that's the standard, then many western countries should have been excluded in so many previous Olympics. This is total nonsense! I can't use bad words. Otherwise I would have!
