looking forward to the skiff rebuild!!
ОтветитьI just went through this. I left my boat at anchor for a couple days while I had some trailer repairs done. I was so paranoid!
ОтветитьPerfect timing! I need to re-carpet the bunks on my trailer. Thanks for posting this! 🤙🏼
Ответитьif you are going to use concrete blocks, at least turn them in the correct direction!! you are set up for failure in this scenario brother.
Ответитьeasy way to get the boat off the trailer!! awesome!!
ОтветитьGreat method - thanks for posting. One safety note - those concrete blocks can fail instantly and without warning. Probably not likely on a boat that size but I still never use them the for any kind of blocking. Go boat stands or wood all the way.
ОтветитьYou make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing. See you at the Boat Show. 😊
ОтветитьDude! There's two of you. Loll. Very informative and great video. Blessed brother ❤
ОтветитьSome junkyard tires will work just fine... We used them at the boat dealership in the 50s and 60s😊😊😊
ОтветитьAre you going ultimatly to a another trailer?
ОтветитьThe concrete blocks are in their weakest position. With this small boat that probably doesn't matter. It matters a lot with larger boats.
ОтветитьStep one. Buy a boat
ОтветитьTo take a boat off a trailer.
Put two old tyres on the ground near the stern.
Pull the boat back on the trailer until the stern starts to drop. (hold the bow on the winch cable).
Position the tyres so the stern will land on them.
Slowly pull the trailer forward, or drive forward with a car.
When the bow starts to drop off the trailer, put an old tyre under the keel at the bow.
Pull the trailer out and the boat is unloaded.
To put the boat back on the trailer, wheel it up to the bow and winch it on, guiding the trailer under it as it lifts up.
NO PROBLEM!
I have done this many times!
Bunks broke off my trailer literally yesterday, thanks for the post!
ОтветитьThis guy “no special tools required”
Also this guy “you need these things that are really expensive and hard to come by” 👎
Very helpful, thanks so much. Just bought a new-to-me skiff and trailer and the trailer needs work. And Forrest is the man, what a good dude! Thanks again!!
ОтветитьWell first mistake is your using the cinder blocks wrong. They should be turned up so that the holes are up and down. That is the strongest way for a block. Like laying a wall for a foundation.
ОтветитьI’m most definitely not a Biden supporter, but I’d like yo point out if I were seeking to learn which is the best show on broadway y

I would trim the motor all the way up just in case it fell. Very helpful video.
ОтветитьSeems a bit labor intensive to this old man. My method involved tying the back of the boat to an "immovable object" (ie: tree) and pulling the trailer out with my vehicle, placing the cribbing as necessary. Worked for me many times with a boat bigger than the one in this demo. Getting the boat back on was the reverse with the use of the winch. But that's just me.
ОтветитьMan, I needed this video a few years ago. I did it completely different and much less safe. But, honestly, great information. Thank you.
ОтветитьMeh. This looks like way to much work, I’ll just dump my
Boat in my old mans lake and paint the trailer and put the boat back on.
I have two chain falls in the barn that work great
ОтветитьUse a cherry picking for front end once the back is secured.
Ответитьdont ever use concrete blocks for shoring up anything due to they are prone to having cracks in them .if u use them for light cribing at least turn them the way u would put them in a wall.
ОтветитьFor the front of boat, use two 6 foot step ladders on each side of the boat and put a 4x4 in the top rungs and tie, ratchet or come a long. To lift the front 😳
ОтветитьI did this years ago with an 18' Hydra Sport. I lowered the front and built a crib in the back in the center in a flat part of the boat hull. I jacked it up as high as I could with the trailer jack. I had already built an a-frame, like you would for a swing, placed a nylon strap under the bottom and attached the nylon strap to the a-frame about 3/4's from the back of the boat. I then lowered the boat and cradled it in the nylon strap. I then was able to hook up the trailer and pull it out from under the boat. I've done this twice on two different boats. The Hydro Sport to repair the trailer and a 20-foot Procraft to do some fiberglass work to the bottom. I have to remove the Procraft again soon to do trailer repair on it. It works out very well.
ОтветитьI've been curious about this process. I had two floor jacks, getting the bow off the trailer would be even easier! Thanks for posting.
ОтветитьI agree with the first posting. The block are not made to support weight that way. Hole in block need to be verticle. And then place wood on top of the block to protect the bottom of the boat.
ОтветитьSorry. I see the 2x4 on the block. I raised my 27 ft. Sea Ray off of my trailer to paint the bottom many times.
ОтветитьI see others have commented ass well- Always orient CMU's with the cells vertical.
ОтветитьThats not a boat its a surfboard😂
