Criminals do not obey laws. It's the same with gun crime. It's impossible to legally own a handgun in Australia and yet there are many shootings where handguns are used. Law abiding citizens have the right to self defence. To be able to defend yourself succesfully, you need to be better armed than the criminals. The politicians don't care because they don't live in the real world like the rest of us.

Machetes are not the weapon of choice for most civilised people. These people would throw rocks if that was all that they had. Maybe we need to look at who these people are, where they come from. Maybe we need to choose our immigrants more carefully. They ban machetes today, steak knives, butter knives tomorrow.

I watched 7news when this announcement of the ban came out and I LOL.
Literrally, the reporter, after reporting about the ban and the event leading to it, said 4 teenagers were arrested and 2 of them were already out on bail.
That, the bail and soft punishment part, is the problem.

The problem with pepper spray, is that it does not even come close to be a viable defence against an armed aggressor.

Already the people causing the problems have switched to using clubs, is the government going to ban clubs next? What about if they then switch to shovels?
I can see it now, the Victorian government banning shovels because they are being used in violent crime.

I played a sports game near the north land and was going to got for lunch there. Thankfully my buddy was busy so we called it of. That was the same day the northlands went into lockdown because of these thugs with machetes. That could’ve ended badly.
