Just have a go – the strike that would go down in the Bundesliga record books. 82 metres – the furthest long-distance goal ever in the German top flight.
In over 50 years of Bundesliga history there have been strikes to rival Stoppelkamp’s:
5 - Alex Alves scored from 52 metres for Hertha Berlin in 2000.
4 - Diego - from 62 metres...
3 - 1986 effort from Klaus Allofs (Köln) went in from 70 metres.
2 - The previous record holder was Frankfurt’s Georgios Tzavellas, who scored past none other than Germany No1 Manuel Neuer from 73 metres.
1. Stoppelkamp stuck another nine metres on that – some hit – but now it’s all about focusing on Paderborn’s survival bid... ⠀
