I remember how we were set for a sports day catch up. Had the hotels lined up, drinks on ice. Then one guy "forgot" he had a family reunion once there was a $50 deposit. Turns out everyone had last minute emergencies and already had free cancellation. Getting friends together is difficult!

One time me and some “friends” were supposed to go to an arcade in South Jersey (about an hour drive). Sure enough, the day comes and I’m the only one at the arcade. Call everyone else up and I get nothing but excuses.
Haven’t trusted them since then.

my god, this is painfully accurate. i’ve been trying to do something, ANYTHING, with my friends for years and i can’t get anyone to want to actually sit down and plan it out with me and then the other day one of my buddies had the audacity to say “we need to do a boys trip somewhere this summer” and i was thinking “SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH YOU DUMB BITCH” bc i’ve been saying this for literally every month for years now
so now i don’t even ask them if they want to go do things. i just go do them alone and it’s great. last summer i went on a 5 week roadtrip by myself. started from central TX and went to colorado > wyoming > montana > chicago > and then lastly north carolina bc why not. if i felt like doing it then i did it. i did what i wanted when i wanted it for 5 weeks straight. if i had the money id still be out there to this day.

point being: dont wait around for other people to go to the things you love to do. if they want to come then try to go together but people are so wildly different and that’s okay. just go after your passions and dreams. that roadtrip changed my life. it was so much more than a “good time.” i learned a lot about myself and i decided that i would never sell my soul to a job or career that won’t allow me to do what i love doing. don’t know what i want to do with my life but i know what i DONT want to do and that’s a step in the right direction. just go do it, friends.
