That's not a proper way to do a performance comparison, at least all the dynamic settings should be off and weather set to a clear sky. This one only confirms that the new sim utilities cpu far more better than a previous one, but we already knew that...

I think this is the first video of yours that I have watched, and I have to say I’m really impressed with how you did the video. A little introductory speech and then you allowed us to watch the comparison in peace, without constantly talking over it. Really very good. I’ll be looking out for more of your stuff.

If 2024 is better, why isn't the contrast as good as 2020?

I don't understand why we should leave the fs 2020 and buy the 2024? It is the same with other colors worse. Worse clouds worse night

In my opinion, Generally, the Daytime visuals are much better in 24, And at night 20 is better. I do have a lot of real world flying, but its still hard to say how I perceive this compared to the real world.

Trees and general vegetation & ground is incredible in 24! As is the atmosphere / sky, mist etc.

cpu and gpu usage is better now.

Will cloud shadows be projected onto the ground below in the shape if the clouds? Will the wings of my airliner disappear when in the clouds? Will the weather affect ground handling? Will the default AI respond to atc and follow the correct SIDs and STARs? Will they taxi and takeoff like real planes? Got more on my hope-list but these are some of my main deal-breakers.

I kinda like the clouds on 2020 better, terrain is better in 2024 in certain locations, but many locations look pretty similar. If cpu gpu comparisons look like this then i can see my rtx2080ti will be toasted

The real test is without DLSS. I tested three systems in TAA mode at 4k 3700x & 4080, 5800x3d & 4090, 7900 non-X with PBO & 4090. The results in TAA average were 25 FPS 3700x, 35 FPS 5800x3d and 60FPS 7900 non-X with PBO. Additional V-Cache seemed to matter less, it was more about core performance, base rate and boost clock along with number of cores. We'll see when the final releases, but I suspect V-Cache will not be the performance boost it previously was and those with 12 or 16 core processors will see higher frames.

terrain shadows are super whack especially cloud shadows in fact they are not existant.

There is something wrong with your FS2020. GPU is at 60% CPU is at 50% and you are getting 45 fps?

Love the comparison! To me (am I the only one?) Grand Canyon looks too bright and less coloured than reality in 2024 while 2020 is a bit too colourful... At night I think the runway lights are much better in 2020, but all the surrounding lights from airport and city are much better in 2024, not so sure about the night-sky because I think it looks too bright... Just the alpha ofc so nothing rly to critize because I think they've done a great job as far as optimization so far (did you know 2020 is still just 17% finished with planned optimization?) with what we can see. The only part of 2024 I really, truly hate is the price of the aviator-edition! Just my own opinion (and without trying to be cheap because ofc I'd love it if they had put it ridiculously low, but that was never going to happen), but I can see the value if it had been around $189-$199, but $265 USD......... I mean c'mon!! I'm getting that aviator-edition anyway so saying it's a wrongful price makes me a sort of hypocrite, but when I first saw that price-tag I had to rub my eyes before I believed what I saw............. 😭🤣

I'm also very excited about the performance and the new features. Is AI traffic already available and what about the ATC? I found both points disappointing in MSFS2020. I'm also excited to see how well my system performs...

The only thing that matters how the performance is gonna be on busy airports. Thats where it gets unplayable, even for good systems

Thank you for taking the time to make a genuine unbiased comparison... Whilst being in proximity to the ground the 2024 is superior to the 2020 I felt the Sky and the Cloud definition of the 2020 in all scenarios was far superior...I'm on Xbox and rather concerned about the Frame rate as already I get tremendous stuttering with 2020 near bespoke Airports with live Weather....I'm not totally convinced about the complexity of 2024... At the end of the day the challenge is to Fly/Navigate the plane not look at Trees etc....Roger

Where is cockpit view?

I see had the dynamic settings enabled in 2024 which allows the sim to downgrade your graphics settings to archive a desired frame rate. So this wasn’t a like by like comparison, since 2024 had the ability to downgrade LOD while 2020 did not. I found the dynamic settings did some fairly noticeable downgrades at times, even when it didn’t need to. So it’s great for boosting FPS but makes any comparison between the 2 no longer a level playing field. But a great comparison video anyway, so thanks for that. One problem your comparison shows is that Asobo have done the lighting with their new lighting engine. Many of 2024 scenes show a dramatic loss of colour. In reality bright light doesn’t diminish colour. Hopefully this something they will fix.

You should really have turned off DLSS entirely.

Firstly, Auto undersamples differing amounts depending on how the game is running. So that means that you can't even compare apples to apples at the same resolution for both engines. (I suspect this is why 2020 is running better with way less gpu usage.)

Secondly, they ship with entirely different DLSS libraries (or should, given that the base game is shipping over 3 years out of date and everyone's injecting their own).

I love how in 2024 there are like 9 Superyachts in New York City.

First video I have seen that really shows the improvements made from 2020. That much higher GPU utilisation is brilliant.

There's something weird about 2024. Colours too much blue. Clouds look very generic.

The runway lights look inferior in 24. Hope they improve them.
