Eigentlich wollte nur mal eben schnell in das Album reinhören, ob ich es immer noch so mag wie damals…da bin ich hängen geblieben und es läuft nun seit über einer halben Stunde und ich bring es nicht fertig, auf STOP zu drücken. Eine unglaubliche Magie löst diese Musik in mir aus. Früher fand ich es schon unbeschreiblich und es formte meinen Musikgeschmack, jedoch heute mit neuer Abspieltechnik und den ganzen Erfahrungen im Gepäck hat es auf mich eine Wirkung, die ich nicht in Worte fassen kann. Besser kann Meditation und Musikgenuss nicht klingen…

Ho 56 anni, ed ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere tanta buona musica. JMJ e' uno degli artisti che ha trasformato la musica elettronica facendone poesia... ricordo di avere registrato su cassetta il meglio di Jarre, e di viaggiare con il walkman e la sua stupenda musica...!!!

Born in 1976 Jarre was a big part of my daily music intake. To this day it is timeless and full of emotions and feelings.

First Jarre’s album I've put on a turntable back in 1988. My favorite one. Have all his normally released albums incl. rare things like Radiophonies but Equinoxe 1-8 imo is the best.

I set up my hifi system for my wife 40 years ago she was doing a hairdressing production for her company , I played the whole album whilst the stylists were carrying out styles and. Cuts, what a magnificent evening it was listening to JeanMichel Jarre ,throughout

I did see the movie "Flow", and the last song when the "Secretary" Passed away, sounds one song similar to the intro.

C’était en 1987 ,c’etait l’hiver, j’allais voir ma copine en région parisienne ,j’ecoutais Jean michel jarre en roulant dans un paysage de neige ,que des bons souvenirs mais aussi beaucoup de regrets.

Wie bei Oxygene Kopfhörer auf, zurücklehnen, Augen schließen und genießen und zum letzten Part aufwachen weil man durch das beruhigende irgendwie einschläft

Reading it was made in 1978 seemed impossibly long ago, but then I realised that I'll have heard it mid '80s and now I just feel very old

❤ Love it … i still own that Album pressed to Vinil … First Edition , into my Record Collection (1800 Vinil‘s) most the old SchoolPsy/Goatrance&Acid-house … but With Jeab Michael Jarre was my First Vinils 😅😅 i am 63 !!! And still use then as DJ … 🎉

Superlative - thank you, SO much, for posting this highly-memorable and nostalgic LP. A few years back, I'd travelled to my father's house - pulling up outside, I'd half a cigarette to finish and wanted to let the engine cool down idling after her 2.5-hr run, so, I sat with my door open, my House music pumping. He came out, saying he didn't know how I could listen to that, it was just noise. I had to remind him, my love of electronic music started when I was a baby, it was all his fault, because he played Jean-Michel Jarre's Equinoxe and Oxygene, and Space albums (Magic Fly FOREVER!) to me. He had nothing to say to that!

My dad died a month ago.

He used to play me this on vinyl when I was little. I used to ask him "dad, play me the owls". The cover looked like that too me then. That's how I got into electronic music that I love today.

When this came out in 1978 my roommate was an LSD dealer. Needless to say...this piece and Oxygene sounded awesome. Headphones were a must. Almost 50 years later......time travel. Good stuff.

And this is one of the best and most world-famous techno albums of all time.
An electronic symphony,
and a phenomenally fine and very beautiful one at that.
The timbre, the melodies, everything is so great!

Jean-Michel Jarre is one of the most important and creative composers.
Adventurous rock fans will find these sounds fascinating.
An incredibly convincing and captivating musical masterpiece.

The water, rain, storm and thunder sounds that can be heard on various tracks were developed by French sound engineer Michel Geiss. In addition to the ARP 2600, Jarre also used generous echo whips for the various sound effects created by the EMS VCS 3 synthesizer. Both the Eminent 310 Unique organ and the VCS 3 were run through an Electro-Harmonix Small Stone guitar phasing pedal to create the string pads used on the album. The main sound of “Équinoxe Part 1” was created using Eminent's SUST string configuration. The Korg Mini Pops drum machine was also used on the album.
Jarre's musical ideas were initially recorded on a small cassette recorder, “as an audio scratch pad”. Jarre considered discarding one of the recordings as he didn't think it was good enough, but Geiss convinced him to keep it, and the track later became “Équinoxe Part 7”. Jarre also told Geiss that one of his wishes was a sequencer based on a matrix.
Geiss designed the Matrisequencer 250, a 2x50 note instrument that “became one of the main instruments in Équinoxe.”

The Pittsburgh Press described the album as "a moody, melodic, masterful synthesizer symphony" and "a dazzling musical poem, a pleasure to listen to, a delight to experience."
In The Bulletin, William D. Loffler commented that the "titles are meaningless because the music is something like a stretched-out electronic tone poem." Retrospective reviews of the album have been more favourable. Phil Alexander of Mojo listed it as one of Jarre's three key albums, noting the influence of abstract art and classical composers Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Nino Rota on Équinoxe, and wrote that "Jarre attempted to trace the human experience from morning to night across eight tracks on an album that is sensual and, in places, deeply melancholic."
Mike DeGagne of AllMusic commented, "As the follow-up album to Oxygène, Équinoxe offers the same mesmerizing effect,
with rapid spinning sequencer washes and bubbling synthesizer portions all lilting back and forth to stardust scatterings of electronic pastiches.
Using more than 13 different types of synthesizers, Jarre combines whirling soundscapes of multi-textured effects, passages, and sometimes suites to culminate interesting electronic atmospheres...
So much electronic color is added to every track that it is impossible to concentrate on any particular segment,
resulting in waves of synth drowning the ears at high tide."
